Hey everyone, real happy to be back,( not that anyone cares anyway :rolleyes ) my computer got messed up and we finally bought a new one. I would like to give a really late thank you to everyone that helped me with my project.

Now heres what I really wanted to share with everybody, I'm joining the navy soon. I was going to join it now but my mom didn't want to sign for me. She thinks that after I'm done with my 4 years that I wont have a career, and would have wasted four years of my life. My recruiter says that the navy gives you the opportunity to succeed in life, but that it's only as good as what you make of it.

I trusted my recruiter completely but then my mom reminded me of my two uncles who served the military. One was in the airforce and was actually pretty smart. Now he lives in my aunts efficiency for free with his wife. My other uncle was in the marines and now he makes a pretty good living but, his job has nothing to do with any skill he would have learned from the marines. These examples made me doubtful about joining the service. My mom wants me to do the predictable thing that everyone else is doing. You know, the whole " Go to college, and then you'll have a career after four years". Thats cool and all but I'd rather travel the world and learn hands on. What I fear the most is what I will do after the navy, and what job I will feel good doing while in the navy. ( I scored 73 on asvab )

Any suggestions from you guys would be great. Thanks

Sign up for a remote in korea for a year. It will suck for that year but after that you can go where you want to go. Think Okinawa Japan! I have a friend in miami who was stationed in Okinawa and he came back a totally different person. Not beaucse of the airforce but because of japan. (Think of it R32 GTR Skyline [RB26DETT] for 8000 US. in VERY good shape) Plus you are in the service so you will have awsome credit, and jobs dig military experence even if it's not in the field (No i've never served)

As far as "waisting 4 years" thats pretty much what college is. I work 40 hours a week and am a full time college student. Let me tell you my job prepairs me way better than any Computer Science degree would.

Also if you work and go to school it will probilby take more than 4 years anyway. and believe me after 4 years in school it doesn't seem like a long time at all!

EIther way Good luck!

Rob
