i didn't really see a price increase on em but i'll believe ya. either way, should this pop (knock on wood), a built one from some company will go in since it's too late in the game to get a used motor from someone without knowing the history of said motor. compression may check out ok but for the power levels I want, not gonna bother "half-stepping."

Actually, the price is going up because they ARE harder to come by. Junk Yards and Salvage yards get rid of older model parts and cars to make room for newer model parts and cars. The prices are increasing ALOT over what they were a short 4 years ago.

This isn't a shot against Sunny alone. Just a reminder that we can't take for granted that the KA is a cheap and easy swap once we pop one of them...or 6...lol.

I shouldn't have called you a jerk Sunny, I apologize. I do however think you need help with your next build. Yes you have been doing this for a long time now, but there is definitly something wrong.

WD
Dont worry WD, i didnt take it offensively. I've gone enough through the years from other people in my area giving me bull**** about turboing a KA. I can careless about what people say, as long as I can boost

This last motor, i let a shop completely build the motor, i didnt even touch it. I just dropped it in and it was good to go. Hopefully I still use this block if detonation didnt destroy the cylinder walls, but if i can i still have a spare block in the back yard i can swap everything over.

Maybe ill have better luck with Lucky number 7

ROTF, so hilarious(ly fowl..) WD. I want/need it too, and spoke first for it, gave my contact info last night.

Man i got the fkin shaft on this deal hard. I offered to pick it up today but logan didnt give me a call early enough, and i had school. Im within driving distance of a ka i need this freaken instant. Its not like that motor was just going to be sitting around, it would be going strait into my 240.

Fked a bearing after 500 miles of serious blow by, didnt smell my oil in time to catch it. Changed the oil after i noticed it, got 50 more miles till the motor developed rod knock.

even if the cylinder walls are trashed from the detonation, couldn't you sleeve it?

it'd be cheaper and more effecient (sp?) to just grab another block ka's aren't hard to come by

Logan is selling his at a reasonable price I think..

480, im willing to help you pull that motor in the local pic-a-part, and I'll take the time to call them tommorow and get a price. I apologize but WD offered me plenty more than I was asking just for my time & effort.

I have 2 spare blocks. No need to buy another one. Ill just overbore one of them due to the rust thats been building up on the walls. Shouldn't take more than a week till its running again

This exact same situation comes up all the time. Your supposed to tell me that someones made a better offer, and see if im willing to match it since we had the deal first.

You dont just completely blow me off after we have agreed to something. I left you a message on your machine telling you that i could come pick it up today or tomorrow 3 hours after you gave me a call this morning, before that post ever happend.

Look, KA's are available. But they might not be local, they might be some dude that has beat the thing for 200k miles, pulled it out and is SAYING it's only got 100k or even less.

Not to mention, if it's not in your area you have to find a guy willing to ship the motor...then you have to pay shipping. So add $200 or so to the gamble you're already making by trusting some dude you don't know.

This thread went way off topic and I apologize for that. I usd to go through RB20's ALL the time when I was in Japan, I lost count actually. They could be picked up for $200 minus accessories and turbo. So the lure to boost them till they pop was more then I could stand.

In the end it's all about the boost addiction...best of luck to everyone in all of their endeavors, be it a used motor or a full rebuild.

No, ka's are not getting rare at all.

The thing that is rare however is finding one for sale by someone you can trust. Exactly like WD said, anyone can say a 200k mile motor has 100k(or less) and get away with it all day long.

This thread did get way off track. **** was about to blow up like the godfather..

For the record...we shouldn't be congratulating Sunny on anything other then being a jerk. He's depleting the resources of a motor that isn't in production anymore.

I'm not buying the...it was a boost spike excuse anymore. The problem is the user. I can't find a good price on a KA anymore because of people that have NO idea what they are doing, blow up motors left and right and then think it's something to brag about.

Sell the 240 and get a Domestic bro. For the love of God, quit blowing sh1t up...

Here's an idea, GFY. I've put more effort into helping Nico's KAT guys then any other member we have. I built the whole FAQ and have written articles about countless topics. I have earned the right to voice an opinion if I have one.

I also apologized for calling him a jerk, so you're a tad late on the uptake there Dave. Don't instigate sh1t that's already over with.

ThanksWD

Go back to your SR forum bro...

I don't like when people come around and thread crap for the sake of arguing. If you had voiced an opinion about the thread itself maybe I wouldn't care, but you simply came in here to stir up trouble. Consider this a warning...

I don't know you and you don't know me, we'll leave it at that.
