Maybe I'm completely blind when searching, but I missed finding a solution for this.. My girlfriend drives a 1999 Nissan Altima Sedan, automatic.. We went to get groceries and when we got back to the car and tried to start it, the key wouldn't physically turn in the ignition.. I can't move the gear shift out of park and into 1st or neutral.. The wheel seems to be locked as well.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you..

Had the same thing happen with my 98 altima. I had two keys neither worked. I called a locksmith and he used the old keys to build up a new key. The keys had worn down so much that they didn't work. If you have a spare key that has been rarely used it might work. Apparently this is fairly common with altima keys

Try applying a little turn of the key while you try to pull it out slightly. A worn key will cause all kinds of grief.
