I have a 2000 infinti i30 and I've been having problems with over heating. Last year I had the thermostats changed and last night I put a new radiator fan in. And topped off all my levels. Is it possible that it could be the radiator fan relays. And if so how do I get them out. Thanks for the help.

Pop the hood after the needle creeps up past the middle. Are any of the fans running? When you turn on the AC, are both fans running?

Did you burp all the air out of the system including the heater core?

Yes they both run. I did that last night when we installed the new fan. I talked to someone at a auto shop about the relays and because I can't get them out so they said they might be caroted so I'm going to just drop the thing off. Thanks for the help

If the fans are working, your relays should be good.
I'd look at the actual condition of your radiator itself, as well as making sure you burped all the coolant out of the system. If you turn your heat on while it's overheating, do you get super heat out of your vents, or does it seem cool?

When it's overheating and I turn the heater on its super hot air. I actually took it in tonight but since it wasn't hot and the guy couldn't find anything wrong with it, so he was saying that my engine might be creating carbon dioxide which steams and pushes into the radiator and is making it hot that's why the fans can't cool it down, but he said bring it when it's hot.

Is he referring to a head gasket leak? Have a test done to check for combustion gases.

I'm going to bet that if the headgaskets are good (if the car passes the block tester test) than you're radiator has filled up with junk from using tap water, this can only really be remedied by getting a new rad. GL.

Yeah if you turn your heat on while it's overheating, and the air isn't warm, that usually means there's air in your system, either left over from when you did the thermostat (and didn't bleed it correctly, like with your heater on), or the head gasket is blown and it is pushing air into the system.
