I previously read a post a while back about someone's trunk automatically opening. I can't seem to find it through the search so I'm starting this new thread.

My trunk seems to be possessed or something. One day after shopping, I arrived at my car only to notice the trunk was open. Now I know I didn't leave it open, but somehow it popped open. I figured I accidently pushed the button while it was in my pocket. So, I left it at that and closed the trunk. About 15 seconds later, with the key in my hand, the trunk popped open by itself. I was shocked because I was holding the key by the chain and wasn't anywhere near the trunk release button. I checked the trunk then all of a sudden, the lock actuator started clicking about 3 or 4 times while I was holding the trunk lid.

This past weekend, I took my car in for servicing and told them what had happened. They took my car and checked everything and said there was nothing wrong. There is no service bulletins on this matter and they couldn't do anything about it unless they could duplicate the problem. I left the dealership feeling uneasy about the whole thing.

Last night it happened again. When walking to my car, I noticed the trunk was open again. Has anyone had this problem before? Or is there really a ghost in the trunk?

My 07 camry had this problem, I do not know if it relates. It stopped on its own after about 2 weeks. Toyota could not find anything wrong with the car....

Haven't heard of that happening, but recently after a couple hours out I found the passenger window on my 02 G20 rolled all the way down while the other windows were all still closed tight. The windows were all closed when it was left (I don't open the windows normally) and none of the fob buttons opens the windows, not even a crack. Somewhat scary to think that it was parked outside in a commercial area with the window down for several hours, but luckily nothing was missing. Hasn't happened since, thankfully; maybe the same ghost is now haunting you?

Check the switch in the car. I bet there's something shorting it.

Btw, if you did the the dirty in the back seat, then thats why you've got ghosts :P

This issue was resolved about 6 months ago, but I guess the mixing around of threads from the change made it resurface. Just to let you guys know, it was a simple FOB reprogram. Hasn't happened since, but I THINK I SEE DEAD PEOPLE!

Glad to hear you got it fixed. I've had this happen a couple times, but, like you, just blamed it on a button getting pushed.

Guess all the restructuring around here actully helped me out when this thread resurfaced!

:wtf2: this happened to me and if you found out what was wrong with it? Please let me know mine does this often but didn't do it when I took it in for servicing.
