I bought my 95 240 back in 97, owned it until i wrecked with out full coverage insurance, where it sat in my garage for about a year until I sold it to an acquaintance. He fixed all the suspension and body work and put a fresh coat on it. I already had an air intake and exhaust. He owned it for about 6 months before I bought it back. When I got it back it seemed to have a LOT more power than what I remember. I asked him what he did to it, and he said he took it to a friend who owns a shop and they hooked it up to computer, and changed a bunch of settings. I like its power but it also seems to suck gas (but I really cant tell cuz I havent even went through a whole tank yet) like crazy.

Now my question: Do any of you know what they actually did to it with the computer, and if so is it healthy? He says he really doesnt know, but it works. I am also wondering what the difference is between this and the ECU upgrade.

Unless he has a different ECU other then stock what ever changes were made were are not permanent. The ECU is ROM and can not be over written (that i'm aware of). I know with the Consult II timing and FI can be changed but as soon as you unplug it, it all goes back to normal.I would talk to the guy that owns the shop. JWT is the only company I would trust to change fuel maps unless the person has years of experience with that particular motor.

mayhem is right on all counts... except for only trusting JWT, lets face it, they are over-rated.
