I've got a 6 month old Versa that I love. Recently the check engine light came on - and not it was not the %$#* gas cap. After 1.5 hours at the dealer, I was informed that the car needed a new "Vent Control Solenoid", a part they did not have in stock. A few days later, I returned for the servicing and was told that they actually did not need that part at all, it was simply a disconnected EVAP hose, now connected, but on test drive they noticed that the car was still hesitating under load.
After 2 hours, they diagnosed a bad AF sensor/ O2 sensor. Of course the part was not in stock, a couple more days the service manager said. Then the mechanic came through and wanted my keys - ah my part was gotten from another dealer. BUT in the process of replacing the AF sensor, the connector that is part of the manifold was stripped. The service manager said "in his experience, this happens all the time". Of course, we don't have that part in stock so maybe on Monday. I shouldn't drive the car with the AF sensor problem because it will damage my catalytic converter.
I didn't buy the car from these guys and I feel like I'm getting the run-around. Several parts of the story don't hang together. They are the closest dealer, but they remain an hour from my house.
Has anyone heard of the AF sensor problem with the Versa? Is it common to strip the manifold removing one of these? Is it common for a dealer to have no needed parts in stock, including a key fob, and the parts mentioned here? Any suggestions for a next step?
Thanks for any help you all can provide.
