and heat! make that thing expand like you know it wants to. just put an acetalyne (sp?) torch on it for a minute or two, then yank her off with the puller.

oh, one question 2bns13, i notice you have the vin code deal in your sig. what exactly is the "L" denotation? mine is a RHLS13. just wondering, you may need to add something.

another tip...before you try to get it off, take some emery cloth or sand paper and polish teh end of the shaft (ha ha ha, funny...grow up)

itll make it easier to get the cog off.....also, lube the end of the crank as well.....itll also ease the removal of the cog.

good luck.. i ruined both of mine (= just went and got a new one for 35$ can

Sig Fixed But the "L" descriptor is not actually in the "type" code of the car. Re-check your ID tag on the firewall, and you will see what I mean. I'll leave it in there for a while anyway...

I got a puller for 10 bucks at the local hardware store cheap tool bins. I will remove it tomorrow and document the results for posterity. I hope I don't get caught borrowing all this stuff from work, lol

I remember when I had to take that damn sprocket off. That mofo was seized onto the end of the crank. I was unable to drill into it to use any type of puller, so I ended up cutting into it with a dremel cut-off wheel. I cut it on the top, bottom, left, right, diagonal, the other diagonal, keep cutting away sections and try to jam a flathead screwdriver into the cuts with a hammer to break it open... all while trying not to touch the crank with the cut-off wheel. Yes, I did nick the crank a bit, but after a long time, I made swiss cheese out of that mo-fu@#%!!! Finally was able to break it off.

Oh yeah, I also used a drill to drill into the cuts where they were close to the crank, cause the cut-off wheels couldn't go in too far without slicing into the crank itself. One of the worst things I've been through... When you finally do get it off, be sure to sand down that part of the crank a little bit to get the rust off and put some anti-seize there so that the new sprocket doesn't get stuck on anytime in the future. Good luck bro!!!
