Hi guys!

So I broke up with my fiance of 3 years, and I'm officially out of a mechanic. Of course this is when everything starts breaking on my 95 s14. The car is completely stock to my knowledge (except for 300zx brakes in the front; why my fiance did a brake upgrade just on the front is beyond me... but whatever). My power steering leaks also but I'll deal with that later. My gas gauge doesn't work well either. It will say I have a half tank when it's definitely empty. ANYWAY!

As of today, my car is getting about 7-8mpg. I'm thinking it's an exhaust leak since the lines near the fuel filter/fuel rail don't appear to be wet. I smell fuel near the rear of the car when I start it, but I'm definitely a little lost as to what I should do or how I should go about potentially fixing it. Literally any suggestions would be helpful.

I may be giving information you already know so bear with me. Since I don't know anything about your car I'm going off of what I know. If a car is about 20 years old there things bound to go wrong sooner or later. My best guess is there is something wrong with the injectors or fuel ratio, hence the smell of gas. But I don't have enough details. How has the car been running recently?

Smell of fuel at the rear of the car and bad gas mileage is making me think there is probably a leak near the fuel pump.

If you pull back the carpet in the trunk and the cover you might be able to see something. The first part of this describes how to get to the pump. (Hopefully the pictures load for you, looks like the links may be dead?). If you don't see anything obvious I would definitely have it checked out professionally as soon as possible... fire = bad.
