Hi everyone,
I installed a new head unit in my Tiida over the weekend (first time doing so) but I did it properly with soldering and heatshrink tubes etc.
Problem is, I've been getting big shocks whenever I touch my car after I turn it off, e.g. when I close the door after leaving the car. When I get shocked, it produces a visible and audible spark.
I thought it was a problem with the grounding, but I checked it again and its fine. I grounded it to a screw on the metal brackets that held the stock head unit in place.
Is it possible that I could be leaking power, say if I didn't connect the power wires at the back of the head unit properly? I'm pretty sure I didn't screw up the cables because the head unit is working fine and there's no alternator whine.
What else should I be checking? Did I ground the stereo to the wrong spot?
Cheers
