I got the car back from the exhaust fabricator today, and I started getting to work assembling everything.

Here's the progress so far

Finally back in MY garage, I missed it while it was gone....

As borat once said......'VERY NICE' My bling-bling parts table....

Tomei 5 Layer exhaust gaskets

Manifold on, wastegates & dumptubes on

Turbo on, and clocked

Downpipe on...

Radiator & FMIC mounted

Engine Shot

BOV on the IC piping

Obviously there is still alot of work left to do. I need to figure out the vaccum hoses and everything that needs to stay and go, I've got all the wiring to do, I need to figure out the fuel setup, run the turbo feed/return lines........Hopefully I can have it all ironed out in the next few weeks and get it fired up!

Looks nice once again. 1 piece hot and cold side IC pipes to? Issues getting them in place at all?

Not at all, they slide right into place. Once the bumper is off it takes literally under 5 minutes to remove/install them. Less points of failure too!

I want to finish my car now, btw, use ACETONE on those intercooler pipe couplings for super tight and stuck on pipes to prevent boost leaks.

That is going to be one bada$$ rb26 Z car.... I had a 91 TT z a few years back, and sold it in pristine orig condition, with only 60,000 mi.

I wish the hell I would have foreseen my fetish for the rb26dett motor then.... I could have done the same swap your doing now, instead of putting it in my 74 z car.

Oh well.... I'm sure we'll both have the same ear to ear grin, in a Z32, as well as a s30... lol

Keep the progress pics flowing!!

The filler neck is welded on to the actual inlet piece on the motor. That piece comes off with 2 bolts. I've always had good luck with jacking the front of the car up when filling for the first time, and blasting the heater as well....

I will probably be at the NOPI's (stl & wherever the one is at in wisconsin) I will definately be at Indy truck bash in august, and I'll probably be doing the ISMS drag racing series as long as the car holds together....

Motor is stock right now with the addition of ARP headstuds and a Tomie 5 layer headgasket, but I have these sitting around just waiting to go in...

I also have a set of tomei pon-cams waiting to go in as well

Are you just trying to get the motor running then your going to take it back apart and rebuild it?

Or are you going to wait till it blows then rebuild it?

If so you probably shouldn't have bought the pistons and rings yet. In case you hurt the cyl wall. I would also hold off on the bearings as well too.

Looks awesome though. What are you planning to do with the car?Drag? What kinda #'s are you looking for HP & time?

No clue honestly. Geoff was making 750hp @ 23-24psi I believe on a stock block with the same turbo, manifold, wastegates, 4" exhaust, etc (our setups are pretty identical) I should be able to push the envelope a little further, but we'll see

I maxed out my old turbos on my VG setup with 540rwhp so anything more than that would be sweet

nice bottom parts .

but why not go for the tomei RB28 kit (for example)?

it also includes a crank , the entire bottom end actually...

pauter rods rock , I have this in my VAG 1.8 20vT(but thats a different story)

No need to

I'm already running 275/45 Mickey Thompson ET STreet Radials as my 'every-day' tire. They hooked up great with 540rwhp.....I was cutting low 1.5 60 foots with a 4.10 rear end on those tires as well. From a roll on in 1st gear I wouldnt get much, to any slip as well

Although it may not look like it, I am not made of money. The tomei kit is quite pricey, and I like assembling my own engines as well

I saw RB28 kits like that for 6000$ ...

thats not expensive consedering you get a 700000WHP reliable motor...

I think its a worth while investment.

but It seems you have a lot more knowledge than me , so perhaps Im wrong.

My combo will hold 1000+HP, and I doubt I'll be approaching 1000hp anytime soon unless I decide to get greedy with boost, and even then I'd need alot more supportive mods such as headwork, springs, retainers, valves, etc......stuff that I dont plan on getting into until next winter most likely...

So youre saying the factory crank can hold that much power ?

good to know

So , what is the benefit actually of a full stroker kit ,if pistons and rods are basiclly enough ?

I am not too familiar with how much the factory crank has handled, or will handle. I was just saying that pauter/CP combo's have definately seen over 1000whp
