so as some know from my last thread i wrecked my coupe well the damage is front bumper/grill, hood, radiator support and a few small odds n ends.

insurance adjusters gift to me...

$2000 meesley dollars? so after the deductable it leaves $1500 or less to fix the car. does this seem liek a lowballed price to anyone else? they priced my factory front bumper @ alittle over $230 and my hood at around $300. the freakin radiator suppoert costs more then the front bumper? I dunno it's kinda bugging me. does anyone know any actual stock new front bumper prices? everywhere i look theres no price. I found new stock hoods complete going for something like $350 or almost $400 from nissan why wouldnt they use nissan part prices on a 2008 car with under 9000 miles on it is what bugs me... reguardless Im annoyed with them and have taken the car to my own body man and I'm going to see what he says. also I'm pretty sure Im just gunna pay the difference on the bumper and opt for the stillen replacement. screw that stupid mustach front end! anyways sorry just venting.

i don't know about Texas but i know in California the law clearly says that you have the right to take the car to any body shop you want and the insurance company has to pay for it. i've seen some people shop for days and then when they find the most expensive body shop possible, they send the estimate to the insurance company and when they get the money, they fix it at a cheaper body shop and keep the difference OR put like a body kit instead of stock parts and do a bunch of stuff to it

With my insurance co. I have to take the car to a body shop for anestimate on what it will take to get it to new condition.

If they don't like that estimate they will send an adjuster out, but theynever do. Sometimes they may ask for 2 bids. Then the body shopjust gets it done. I pay the body shop the deductible and I have a fixed car.

WAIIIT UP!

NYS law says you get to bring it to YOUR shop.. i assume its a state law, but still...

How is it fair that the people cutting the check determine what the damage is?!

Thats like bringing loose diamonds to a dealer, who says, yeh they aint worth much ill give you $3,000... (when he knows its worth 10k!)

Its a conflict of interests...

Bring it to a nissan dealership and get them to give you an estimate!

I agree with LBC. Also see about getting a diminished value check.

I dunno how your insurance works, but here the insurance company has to go where you go to get repairs done.

On a side note I say take it to Nissan, the problem is that say if ABC auto repair says these three things are wrong and this part here needs to be replaced. The insurance company says hey those three things are broken, you can fix it the fourth not so much don't bother. If ABC auto repair says ok what ever, and say three months down the road that fourth part that should of been replaced wasn't fails or breaks Nissan can say wait you were in a front end collision, this failure is due to that. You pony, up and puts your warranty is jeopardy. Give the car to Nissan let them fight it out with your insurance company and save yourself yourself some potential hassle.

i got into a collision in my tc a month after i first got it. i had it towed to the toyota dealership and i never really talked to my insurance agent until they called me to ask me about the accident. the dealer and insurance worked everything out. problem is that they charged my insurance 6k dollars.

my rates went up and i had to pay a deductible. a lot of times the insurance will not fight the price. they dont really car but they pass on the expense to the client. a local body shop will try to help out on the deductible by saying it costs more than it really does and pass the charge over to the insurance.

if you know a responsible local guy, then i say take it there. if you dont know any local guy then take it to the dealer.

ok this is how it works,

the insurance company sent an appraiser out to write a low ball estimate, now all thats for is incase u dont fix your car or if u wanna fix it yourself thats what u get,

so your best bet is to find a reputable body shop, take the estiamte and the check there and have them fix it, the body shop will get in touch with the insurance company for any difference additional labor or parts,

this is what i do all day long lol ask if u need any help
