I have a 93 240sx coupe and it's completely stock. I've been having some serious problems with wheel hop. It seems like most of the people I read having it are having it on the drag strip, though mine is just on normal roads. It happens on really sharp turns or if I hit any kind of bump. There's one part of road that's a slight downhill bumpy bend. My car literaly feels like it's a giant vibrator and I have to slow down to like 20 to keep it from feeling like it's going to fly off the road. I read an article in SportCompact about getting rid of all the rubber bushings and stuff, they said it got rid of the rest of the wheelhop, though I missed the issue on them putting the suspension in. I was wondering if getting a good suspension or replacing all the stuff around it would make a bigger difference?

Though I do wonder what my car looks like from the outside. I tried seeing if it would just go away if I kept the gas down, bad idea. I just let all the way off the gas for a second to get rid of it.

Replace your shocks/struts if they are worn out. Then get aluminum subframe spacers for the rear subframe. This should mostly eliminate your wheel hop, although you still might have a little. If you're not happy with that, you'll probably have to replace your bushings. Be warned there are something like 14-20 bushings in the rear suspension alone that would need to be replaced with new rubber or polyurethane.

One or both of your rear shocks are bad. I replaced mine about a year ago while my wife had posession of the car with ACDelco. Yeah, I know GM parts are crap...found out the hard way as you'll see. I replaced all four and within a couple days my wife started complaining of some weird bouncing and screeching that she noticed while turning. I took off the rear shocks and found that one of them was blown. So I brought it back and exchanged it. Week later, the other side went. I don't know if I did something wrong or what, but I got very frustrated. I went out and bought some other brand and have never had a problem since.

If you're so inclined, take off the rear shocks, remove the springs and try to compress and expand the shocks by hand. If they go in and out with little effort then there's your problem.

Good luck,

Rich D.

lol, I'll dump plenty into it eventually. I make $50-$80 a week, so it's not like I can really do much with that. I hate getting my hours cut. Hopefully after I finish basic training I should have enough money to get it all done. My goal is to get Tein HE with SPL parts to tie it all in. (Can't remember if spl is the right company name, too lazy to look it up.) If I'm lucky I'll have enough money to upgrade the brakes, nothing major, probably just get some 300zx rotors on there. Not going to touch the engine much so I don't need anything crazy for brakes.
