Pretty simple jobRemove under body plasticremove bolts FSM will show you where

No gaskets needed just get 4 new copper washers

you might want to replace the ider pulley and the belt.

you also might want to replace the alternator and ac belt since you will have to take them off again to do it later

Its a good first project

turning it lock to lock holding 10 seconds each time will flush it

You will need 2 qrts of dextron III fluid

Unless abused or fluid not changed, pumps seldom fail or wear out.

Check your hoses and their fittings. Are you going to flush the steering rack? If you have metal shavings or gunk from old failed fluid, highly recommended.

Many of us use M1 ATF, but use a conditoner for the seals.

I would consider belts and pulleys while you are at it.

thanks for the tips silver & max...i can get the dextron III from advanceauto or autozone correct? also on the flushing aside from turning the wheel from stop to stop, is there a bleeder? or do i just hook the everything up, add the new fluid and turn the steering wheel back and forth? sorry if i sound like a complete moron but on this car i have come to realize that one must do everything the right way the first time or all hell breaks lose. find that out the hard way replacing the waterpump awhile back. thanks again.

p.s. i'm sure as hell the fluid has never been changed as with alot of other things i have found in the past year or so.

just checked advance autoparts they have valvoline max life dexron III atf... is this good? or should i find another brand?

Good time to change over to Synthetic (ATF). You'll definately have most of the original fluid out after pulling the pump and letting it drain while you put bandages on your hands (jk).

Jared- Are the crush washers available off the shelf at an auto parts store or a dealer only part? Good luck.
