Okay guys, after months of contemplating I'm deciding to go with the CA swap. I'm debating on this swap here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...62101

What else do I need for the swap? What extra parts should I have on hand. I know I need a fmic, but I'm not sure what else.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Man you should search for this stuff, its been covered a lot.

If I were to buy a CA18DET right now, I would also buy new:

bearingsringsfront and rear main sealshead gaskethead bolts or ARP studscomplete gasket kitwater pumpoil pumpturbo

And I would plan on having the whole thing hot tanked, the head to block mating surfaces milled true, and have the crank checked and possibly the block line bored.

You could take your chances and possibly be fine, but this is a 20 year old engine we are talking about here. Its probably been sitting in a junk yard in northern Japan for like nine years.

If you want to make sure you get a good deal on an engine, talk to Jarco or JHot, they are both in Atlanta.

might as well buy a block and head off NeedCAforS13 sean and build the rest himself at that point.... be far and way money ahead even with the extra cost of a megasquirt setup.

with any engine you are buying these days..........expect to get a cut to **** harness and you MAY or MAY NOT get a maf.....

from the looks of what you have...

-you need an intercooler (i have a side mount i can pass to you for cheep)-i have only the plastic coldpipe so u might wanna find the lower half of the hot pipe?-or just upsize it and save the hassle (unless your broke)-i cant tell from size of pic but it looks like FICD is broken, if ur gonna keep AC then you need to replace that, if not then just keep that thing bolted on-i dont remember why, but i remember that i had to modify my KA throttle bracket so cable could be correct length with the CA manifold-oh and now would be an awesome time to replace your hoses...fo the thin vacuum hoses and the 2 breather hoses, if your broke you can go LOWES and get the braided PVC hose for $0.30/ft for 1/4" and $1.sumthin for the 5/8? 3/8? breather hose...it looks nice...ill post a picture of my engine bay on my breaktime...-ELECTRONICS!! your stuff might not come with a transistor or even a resistor box...-and yeah looks like you dont have MAF...not listed and not shown so i assume..-with that you prolly need a filter and adapter to go along with the MAF...

if it was me i would:

hold the engine up on picker sitting on old tires, etc. and start mocking up the upper wiring and hoses. find what length hoses might need replacing. find what plug goes to where (if your missing plugs you gonna need to get one). send plugs and wiring to a wiring dude to fix. then bare motor is all on you....
