Is there any real difference between the FWD and RWD oil pumps? They have a different part #, but is the only difference in the orientation of the pickup tube? Does it even matter? Ive tried searching and asking in the past, but no one ever gave me an answer.

I am ordering a RWD CA18ET pump unless someone tells me otherwise.

Someone help me out, I am headed to the parts dept. at 3pm today. It is 1:27pm now.

The CA18DE and DET pumps, the RWD ones at least, are the same over here.

Yeah but here they have different part #'s.

This is definitely some information that should be in the FAQ section. I can't recall the number of times Ive asked it and gotten no answer.

BTW those places don't have the pump in stock, and at least Enjuku told me it would be several months to get it. You've got to go to the dealership. My dealership actually had three in stock and it lists for $144.93 NOT $209 or whatever those thieves say it lists for.

the one part you get from the ET is the water pump, something to do with the DE pump not letting the pully clear I think.

DE and DET pumps should be the same since it is the same block, but it never hurts to check...dono could be wrong

$129 total! I got ripped!!

I was under the impression the ET DE and DET blocks were all pretty much the same.

In any rate, I used the 15010-35F01 part # so I should be good to go.

The ET pump will probably bolt the the block, but I think the internal design of the ET pump is different than the DE/DET pumps.

The only thing that I've noticed with my FWD DE pump is that the oil pressure has always been lower than what it was supposed to be. I suspect that it's because the DET pumps have a shim in them to increase the pressure for the squirters that the DE's don't have.

This is completely unfounded though and I have nothing to back it up with.

What would be AWESOME is if you got the FWD DE pump and the RWD DET pump side by side and took pics of them taken apart.

i got a det pump lol i could take apart. i hope i dont get low oil pressure like i said the part number is the same.. ima check fast on a ca16de fwd and see if the part number is the same.

fast list same part number for fwd ca18.. so pumps should be same regardless no internal changes or anyhting minus the change in the internal gear.. the old style vs new style.

I'll take them apart and post pictures the week after next if you would like. Maybe we can figure out how to transplant the shim.

thread not too far back showed the difference in the CA18 pumps internally.Crescent design as the older, whereas the rounded contour version is the newer georotor pump. Must be a reason why nissan revised it. Pressure perhaps ?

i think thenew design cuts down airation of the oil as it gtoes through the pump.. just speculation.

and since the pat numbers r the same , there should bbe no diffference in pressure det vs de pumps.. adding a ship might be nice lol
