Hello again,

So the suspension parts have rusted out on my 04 Pathfinder LE, however, from what a shop owner told me - the frame is still good, and still salvageable (no major rust).

I’m not too mechanically savvy (can replace small engine parts here and there), so I’m shopping around for the best deal possible to get things replaced.

The car rides pretty bad (lots of shaking), and from what I’ve seen, the following definitely needs to be replaced:

Rear:
- Lower/Upper Trailing Arms
- Shocks/Struts
- Sway Bar Links?

Front:
- Control Arms
- Shocks/Struts

The first shop quoted me 3500 for parts and labor
While another shop quotes me 2200 Parts and labor

Do you guys know of any other suspension parts I may be missing from the list for either front/rear? I’m not too familiar with suspension, but these parts seem to be known issues for this gen, so if I wanted to get things squared away before winter. My main goal is just to ride safely/comfortably to OEM specs, as this is a car i’ve inherited. THANKS!

If you can find a shop (or privateer) who will install customer-sourced bits, you could order through RockAuto and probably save some cash.

Front end kit is affordable: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... Viog5Sy9nJ

A couple fears here, however: If the suspension components are that far gone, I suspect there will be some broken bolts, and God-only-knows what other damage to be found. Rust doesn't attack some parts and leave others alone unless they're AL vs steel.

The first shop owner MAY have been telling you that to encourage you to proceed with repairs.

Obviously, you'll need an alignment afterwards, so factor that in. Keep us posted!

There is still the matter of the strut housing recall that should be taken into consideration. Has it been done on the OP's vehicle?
If the strut support is rusted out, then the vehicle is a write off. I don't think the recall is still in effect.
Check before spending any money.
For additional details, read through the strut housing recall stickie above.
