I asked him about that, not all around, but a 235, 245 setup. He said that if I went wider on the fronts, it would look odd and going with a 245 tire on the rear, it'll be more square with the 8" wide wheel.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I would go with a 245 45 17 on all 4 corners!

But when the guy said Pilots, I assumed it was going to be the good Pilots because he said they were really good. Well, they turned out to not be the good A/S ones, instead they're touring tires that are also M+S rated.
Here's a question though, when they first put them on, does it take awhile for the tire to complete fit itself to the wheel? The bead of the tire isn't all the way to the edge of the wheel.

They saved my a$$ and my G yesterday when traffic came to an unexpected short stop on the Garden State Parkway. I had to slam on my brakes with the first panic stop since owning my G. I stopped just before hitting the vehicle in front. The Audi behind me fortunately had a left shoulder as I was in the left lane. The front fender of the Audi was at my drivers door. The woman thankfully knew how to drive and no accident resulted. Had there been no shoulder my G would probably have been headed to the junk yard?
Don't scimp on brakes or tires. Your life and others depends on both.

If you bought a wider tire than your previous one, then that appearance might come off a bit - I did the same on my car...started with a 215 on a 7.5" wheel and went to a 235...there is like a little "lip," but that's normal because of the tire widths and the sidewall flex.smockers83 wrote:

They're not that bad...though getting the Pilot Sport A/S Plus would have been much better...smockers83 wrote:

What I found on a previous car was that the tire the car came with was actually pretty well suited for the car (I think they were Continental 770s or something like that - 1975). One reason for their selection was that they broke traction gradually. When you approached your top speed in a corner they would start scrubbing long before total traction was lost. I found this very handy during this time, few surprises. Another good factor was they maintained this well into their tread life. Some did not like this 'feature' but I found it very usefull.smockers83 wrote:Over bumps, they're quite good, pretty smooth, not rough. Haven't been able to push them though to see when/how they'll break traction. They're also pretty quiet.
Some time soon I want to see how well they will do when pushed.
