First month with my '07 Maxima 3.5 SL, loaded with all except nav. I have to admit I am just a little bit nervous about a couple "issues."

First, was the Smart Key receiver going out. This actually existed when I took delivery. Had to argue with the service dept. that something was wrong because I had to hold the fob up to the dash to get the car to recognize it. They finally admitted it and replaced the receiver.

When I took the car through the car wash, a tiny amount of water came through the sunroof. <hmmm>

The Bose CD player stopped recognizing any CD. It would accept the CD, "read" it and then change to the next CD. Didn't matter if it was a store bought CD or a home made MP3 disc. Turning the radio off, then turning the ignition off, then starting over cleared that one.

On Sunday, the alarm went off. The car was not locked and was inside my garage, which was locked. I was in the den when I heard it go off. Can't figure out why the car suddenly decided to sound off.

Just got back from a 1500 mile round trip to the East Coast. Car performed well and was comfortable. However, the gas mileage averaged only 23.5 and I used cruise most of the time. That's a good bit under the 28MPG expected, and as listed by Nissan. (hmmm)

This car was purchased in lieu of a Toyota due to "problems" I read about in the Toyota forums. I have been a Toyota owner without issues for 12 years but switched to Nissan. I hope I've made the right decision. My initial impression of this car is that it rocks! I just hope it stays that way. I intend to have this one for 12 years too!

Anyone else with a brand new Maxima experiencing little "weirdnesses?"

:-)

Cheers!

This is the first time I've heard of an '07 with that many problems all rolled up into one. Hold your own and don't let the dealer weasel out of fixing the problems.

The key fob issue is something I've heard mentioned several times. I'm not sure if Nissan has a fix in the works or not.

Your fuel milage is WAY low. With the old ('04-'06) 5-speed auto I average about 23mpg in town. Long, cruising freeway trips average above 30mpg. There's no reason your car should get 24mpg on the freeway (unless you consistently drive 100mph).

Nope, not crusing at 100MPH. No, REALLY, I'm not!!! ;-)

The computer now reads MPG at 23.7 compared with my calculations. Doesn't look good for getting any higher than this.

Pulling the stock air filter maybe???

Computer readings on MPG is not as exact. fill your tank and see how much miles you get. then fill-up, then do the math. Make sure your tires are inflated properly.

My mileage is even lower...

I tend to drive at around 80, but I don't get even 24mpg (07 Maxima SE).

I took a long trip when the car was under 1500 miles, and it was averaging in the 21-22 range (80mph, A/C on, four passengers, full trunk, partly hilly freeways, partly flat).

I suppose as a test I could try driving normally for a tankful to see what the best mileage could be, but what's the fun in that?
