Im having a mobile tint co. come to my place and he told me i can pay by check but what about tip, do you tip the guy?

i'd assume no b/c its car maintenance but general rule of thumb in the US is that people delivering to your location deserve tip.

well base it off how much they are charging you, if its respectably cheap, then tip the guy, if its quite expensive eh' let it go,

5% is that even legal? I know in VA the local gesta-po (get it?) will bust your *** for anything more than 30%

These guys do a perfect job everytime and Gaurantee the work for life, and theyll do darker than legal for me.. So Im good with that lol. Give the guy a bone if he takes care of it and does a good job for you!

I tipped my shop something like $20 bucks. Actually, I gave it to the individual that worked on my car. He looked a bit surprised, so I doubt they get it much. I just figured that if someone was in my car for hours and did a good job, they deserved it. Plus, I'm hoping that if there are issues and it needs to be repaired, the guy will be much more likely to remember me and try to do a good job on the fix. On top of that, what is $20 for my baby?

Also, most shops should go darker than legal for you. They don't get in trouble if you get busted, so it shouldn't matter to them what you do to your car. I've taken my last two cars to two different shops that both went darker than legal, and neither of them even mentioned the legal ramifications to me (although I knew them beforehand anyway). If they're getting paid, that's all that really matters.

he is working on it as we speak.

i got the darkest for the small back windows and the rear window and this really light tint for the front windows. Cali law is that you cannot tint your front driver/passenger windows but he is putting on a light tint that knocks out 30% of sunlight.

he had a darker one i could try with the front windows but its 50/50 chance the cops ticket you; ill skip that bs.

ill post pics when its done, he said it should take about 2 hours.

2 hours sounds about right. I've got the darkest possible in the back, but 20% up front. In Illinois it's illegal to have tint on the front, but I went fairly dark anyway. I've already gotten one ticket in about 4 months. It was only $25 though, so it could be a lot worse. Price I'm willing to pay.

well its done.

took him 2 hours and cost 199.00 got a lifetime warranty on it.

looks damn good, the front windows have enough tint to be noticeably darker without being conspicuous.

I tip whenever somebody works on my car. It always directly relates to the job, but usually $20 (always to the actual worker). That way when you go back, they have more of a chance of hooking you up or going that extra mile to give a little more "white glove treatment".
