Hey you guys! Just bought a 2011 M37x. Love the car! When I purchased it I researched the gas mileage and found anywhere from 18 to 20 in the city and 22 to 25 on the hwy. Now, when I'm driving and looking at the average miles per gallon on the info screen, I'm registering 12.9! With these high gas prices I'm very concerned! Is there something I'm doing wrong or is there something I can do to improve the gas mileage. What kind of gas mileage are some of you guys getting? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

These are thirsty cars when you ride them hard..... Maybe you're not noticing your sudden heavy foot?? :gotme

I'm getting about 17 city 19-20 hwy on my '08M45 and I know it's a thirsty car!!

Sorry don't have a real explanation for your issue.. Good luck though! :bigthumb:

Thanks for the last 2 replies. I was driving in the ECO mode and decided to switch to NORMAL! Ironically, I found i got slightly better mileage up to 13.2? (go figure). Now, i'm going to reset the counter and see what the reading are I'll be back at you with results. Also, someone mentioned to get a fuel injection cleaner to improve the gas mileage?

I have an ’09 M35. I drive it pretty easy and get 20 in town and 25-26 on the freeway in So. Cal. I was getting slightly better but replaced the factory tires with Coni’s at 35,000 miles. Milage went down about 5-8%

Did you buy the car new? How many miles are on it?

If it doesn't have a few thousand miles yet, it may still be breaking in.

As for the "fuel injection cleaner", that stuff is just snake oil. Don't bother.

That sounds a bit strange. My wife and I both have the 2011 M37x and we are both getting 22-25 MPG (mostly highway) with the transmission in the NORMAL setting.

Are you resetting the trip meter (or using another method to log the mileage) and computing the actual mileage when you fill up?

Are you using Premium gas?

Thanks for the reply. Well at first I was using standard gas. Then I waited until the tank was empty and have started to use premium only since then. As I stated before, since the change, I have gone from 12.9 to 14.2. I stopped using the ECO mode and stared using STANDARD and my miles per gallon went up? I reset the gas mileage meter also! I also checked the tire pressure and psi. You're the first respondent who has the same actual vehicle I have (2011 M37 X). Could I have a defect or a worse, a lemon> With these high gas prices this is a BIG DEAL (14.1 when it should be 16 or 17 in the city). Anyways thanks for the reply!

It's not uncommon to get a few miles less per gallon than what the manufacture reports---especially due to the fact your M37 is AWD. Depending on the your cars mileage, your M37 could still be experiencing engine break in. Best thing would be to keep your tires properly inflated, use the recommend fuel grade 99% of the times, go easy on the accelerator, and use cruise control as frequently as possible. Every time gas prices increases, I'm so happy I sold my (F50) Q45. It just ain't cool getting gouged at the pump for know logical reason!
