Getting codes on maxima

I got a question about retreiving some codes for a 95 maxima. Do i need to use a scanner? or am i able to jump across a couple of wires like an obd1 honda. any help is greatly appreciated.

You can also go to auto stores, like Autozone, and they will pull the codes for you.
