Well, I should be getting my front clip this weekend. I have to say I'm pretty excited. I'm going up to Cardinal Performance in Georgia to pick one out. They've just gotten a shipment in apprently. So far my interactions with my point of contact, Chip, have been very good. I'm pretty confident I'm going to be pleased with what he has to offer.I'm planning on getting a redtop with something like 50,000 miles on it. My hp goals for the immediate future are relatively modest. I'd like to be at something like 210 -225 at the wheels with the SMIC, just a fuel pump and open up the exhaust to facilitate a bit more boost. Does this sound reasonable. This is my first post, but hopefully the first of many. I just picked up a 90 hatch a couple of weeks ago, and if all goes well getting the clip this weekend the swap should be completed Memorial Day weekend. As I said before, I'm pretty excited...I hope I can wait to tear into it until I really have the time....

Chip is a great guy. I bought my front clip from him. You won't be dissapointed.

If you open up the exhaust and turn up the boost 215 at the wheels is very achievable with stock ic and turbo.

Picked up the clip and I am a happy camper.Chip was super nice and the whole transaction was extremely professional. He had 3 redtops for me to choose from. I picked up one with 79,000k and 150+psi compression on all 4 cylinders. I was able to hear it run and see the compression test done after the engine was warmed up. I don't think I would have been comfortable buying a clip without being able to do those things.I'm really looking foward to getting it swapped in and tooling around. This motor should make it a fun little car.

Good deal man. I did the same route only I picked mine up from Jarco in GA and I did the install myself. Are you going to install it yourself or have one of out local shops do it?

I'm going to swap it in myself. I'm shooting for doing it over the Memorial Day weekend. I think if I do some prep before hand 3 days ought to be plenty of time.

I did mine in my backyard by myself without ever touching a Nissan before(other than brakes) in 2 1/2 days. You should be able to get it done, if you prep right.

If you can take it out, YOu can put it in. Just be careful afterwards.

BTW, if there is anything on the clip you dont want, post it. YOu might get some dough back, and there might be something I want.

No thats not bad at all...and the thing with Jarco is, they drive and run all of thier cars before they purchase them. So you should get a perfectly running motor. On a side note, the miles really isnt that important, its the compression that matters.

hey how much did you pay for your clip?with tax and everything its 2,856.70 including tax. I was thinking of cancelling the order because cardinal performancehas this nice blacktop for $3000. The compression is 155 for all 4 cylinders! And its only 80K KM; -) So you guys think I should cancel and get it from Chip?

Depends...im sure you already know that with Jarco, you get the clip, driveshaft(which you probaly wont use, but could sell)rear end(which Im sure you'll use or sell for $300+/- , 180sx fuel pumo which you could use, but might as well sell for cheap and sometimes a few other things. Im not too familar with Cardinal, though I've heard some people on this board likes them. But for the price...you get a whole lot with Jarco compared to everyone else plus is guaranteed to run more or less.

When I got my clip with Chip it came with clip, driveshaft, full rear subframe with VLSD. Had working side mount i/c with good silvia hood, but busted panels and no bumper or lights. Well worth the price I paid IMO.

i used a S10 with pallets in the back to raise the level higher than the bed. I dont live that far from where I had it shipped to, so it wasnt too bad. Getting it off was a little difficult. I would rent a uhaul if I had to do it again, or get a single car trailor.

I rented a 6'x12' trailer from Uhaul. $30 a day local. Towed it with a '91 Caprice wagon...that was an adventure. Made it there and back, so I guess that counts as a good trip. I took the clip off of the trailer with an engine hoist. It worked like a charm.

Yeah same as above. I had a small trailer (6x8 maybe). they loaded it on with a forklift and I pulled it off with the engine hoist (or in my case A-frame and drove the trailer out from underneath.

I know it has been a little while, but Chip will run the clip in front of you and he will usually give you most of the same parts that JARCO does. My motor dyno'd at 190 rwhp so in addition to looking well maintained, it put down great numbers in stock form.

As far as getting it off the trailer, I slid it down the ramps with me and my brother.
