OK, so i was just thinking about it, your driving around and a cop pulls you, now the cop doesnt know the difference of what the engine is suppose to look like, so how can he bust you for having an sr???If he sends you to a smog referee and they catch you with the sr seeing how you cant get away with it, what will they do???I always wonder but never knew.

In California some law enforcement agencies have books that have pictures of what stock engines look like in specific cars. A KA24E and KA24DE look nothing like SR's, so try not to get caught because some cops know what to look for. There are alot of things that im sure they could do: take your car, license, fines, jailtime, etc... However I would suggest that if you truly wanted to know what the police in your area would do if they found an improper engine, then look it up in the laws for motor vehicles in your state. They cannot make up punishments for finding the wrong engine, there is already a law with punishments listed im sure. You can find the California laws online.

I see, i really didnt know that cops have pictures and knew for certian things to look for. Thing is is 240's around my area aren't to popular, do you think that makes a difference?

It depends on the area, the activities you could be caught doing and the "flashiness" of your car. Im pretty sure everything in California needs one of those stupid CARB (Cali Air Resources Board) stickers to be legal. Even an intake without that sticker is illegal in that state. So play it safe, since the cops down there like to have people pop their hoods to look for "tampered" items.

ok, well i read the other forums page, and i have a 95 which i thought is obd1 but im now confused because of that one other guy saying its obd2. And if it is obd1 and not obd2 then how would i be tested since they only plug it into obd2?

Not sure about where you live, but in IL, they turn your key on, make sure no check engine light. Then make you go through a gas cap test, then a dyno test, with a sniffer, to simulate city, and highway driving. And fyi an sr can pass IL emmisions. Stock boost, an safc2, and a cat, and we passed. Later, chris.

I have always been told one other way to pass the sniffer. Our friend that owns a trans shop with a 600 + hp mustang uses this and it works. he gets his car really low on gas, like empty. Puts 1-2 gallons of gas in, and then add 3 bottles of heat. Maybe more, depending on how much gas you have. Heat is almost strait alcohol. He passed with flying colors, and his car barely stayed runnin at idle, his cam was so bad. I dont know how good this is for your motor, but for a real short period of time cant be to bad. There is also a hydrogen perixode trick that will help you drop your hydro carbons alot.

thats good to know it actually can pass the sniffer...with everyone saying it wont its good to hear real stories and not ones people have heard...hell for our test in MD they dont even turn the car on you leave it running and they drive it on the dyno... I forgot to let them know it was RWD. dumazzes ran it into the damn fan!!! it was funny after i realized there was no damage. they still didnt pass me though.

Here in iowa we have no emissions. For the lord's sake, we have an unlegalized silvia roaming around here and he hasn't even gotten caught.
