Getting around my Qx4

Hello everyone, i just got a fairly used infinity Qx4 but have not been able to locate the engine serial number which according to the manual is somwhere around the engine. Although i sae a number of thus nature, "JN....stamped all around the parts, my agent keeps saying it's being rejected by the computer and that it is the chassis number and not the engines serial number. How can i locate this number????????? Some say i have to dismantle the engine while some thinks i could use a code reader. i need help on this topic

not sure, but usually the serial number should be able to be read rather easily from the top of the engine bay.

I'll check out my PF when I get out of work, see if I can find where it is.
