Have a few questions. I had a 2010 Rogue S FWD before, looking at getting a 2012 SV AWD with Premium package or possibly SL. Trying to decide if the SL is worth it.

First question is about the audio. Anyone know the specs of the sub in the SL package, or the specs of the amp? I have my own sub and amp that I would like to use, but if the factory one is half decent I may keep it instead to save the space and weight. Having my setup in my Altima killed my rear tires and gas mileage from the extra 200lbs sitting so far back in the trunk. Plus it was a pain running the power wire in the 2010 Rogue I had, and I dont want to be going through alternators every few years either.

I had just bought a new set of winter steel wheels and tires for my Altima, 215/60R/16s, and wanted to know if it would be possible to use them on the Rogue. They set me back $740, and I doubt I could resell them for more then $500. They would just be used during winter months to save the wheels and tires that come on the Rogue, and do better in the snow.

I dont really care about the leather seats. I have a dog that rides some times, so I actually think that might be a bad thing. Ill have the rear seats covered with sheets and blankets though, so maybe not. The heated seats, heated mirrors, auto-dim rear view mirror, xenon headlights and fog lights are what I do like about the SL pack though.

Anyone know if the USB port for the stereo works with USB drives? I have one with most my music on it in my Altima with an aftermarket HU. Would be great if it worked with a Zune, but Im guessing it wont and will have to use the AUX for that. Also, if it supports BT stereo streaming from Android phones (HTC Sensation) that would be perfect.

How good is the NAV unit compared to a nice high end Garmin? I have one with lifetime map updates, and am thinking it might not be worth getting rid of, but I would like to not have the wires running around for it.

Im going with a lease deal, then buying after the lease is over. Im getting the lease part of it for the SV with Premium pack for $25812 and 58% residual. With $2k down plus first payment, and .00105 money factor (2.52% interest rate), looking at about $260 a month. The SL pack would add a little over $2k to it, or ~$22/month.

Im sure Ill have a few more questions before I get it, but those are the major ones.
Thanks

The audio system is made by BOSE. Unfortunately neither Nissan nor BOSE publish specs for this system. One member even tried to contact BOSE a few years ago and they refused to provide any specs!

I understand it's a decent audio system, but it doesn't have much for adjustment (EQ settings, etc.). The system uses an outboard amp (located in the cargo area under the floor) for all speakers. The sub sits inside the spare tire. It's not a big honking 12-15" unit... just a single small driver in a ported inclosure, so don't expect earth moving bass.

True audiophiles or those who want thumping bass would probably be disappointed.

The steel wheels from the Altima are a perfect fit for the Rogue. I have been using them every winter for the past 3 years. However the 215/60R16's tires are far too small (The stock Rogue tire size is 215/70R16). I would NOT recommend using the Altima sized tires as it could cause issues with the ABS, AWD and stability system (VDC).

My suggestion? Keep the rims. Put your old tires up for sale in the classifieds and buy new ones in the correct size.

As a dog owner myself, the stock cloth seats in the Rogue are horrible for trapping dog hair. It's a woven fabric and the hairs seem to work themselves into weave making removal very difficult. Leather by comparison would be far easier to clean.

There are lots of seat covers for pets. I use one myself.

You can also try to see if an automotive upholstery shop can make you a protective seat cover.

Yes. Read the owners manual here:

I am unsure if this is supported. I know it has direct iPod connectivity.

Nissan NAV units have a decent interface. The map data is provided by NAVTEQ (the same data Garmin uses). However, there is no lifetime updates and the map data is not updated frequently (every 1-2 years).

IMHO a standalone Garmin or TomTom NAV is still better than any factory installed NAV. I wouldn't get rid of your Garmin, keep it is a backup or use it in another car.

Thanks for all that.

The dealership I was dealing with decided to only offer me $8800 for my Altima, not the $10k I should be getting. Plus they wanted the SL to be like $28,795. I went somewhere else, and they are giving me $10k for the Altima, and either the SV with premium for $25,500 or the SL for $27,790. This is a complete run down of the deal (accept the $13,700 payoff and $950 warranty refund from my Altima are not on the papers, but supposedly were factored in already).

Hello, as usual Philipa covered pretty much everything. I just wanted to comment on the lease deals you quoted. You mentioned that you would like to purchase the car after lease end. in your case, it maybe financially preferable to purchase the car. It seems that you will be putting down around $5k. Why don't you finance for 60 months. If your credit is good, you should check out being a member of PENFED. You don't have to be military, just donate somewhere $20. This is listed on their website. The 60 month rate is currently 1.99 percent.

Also, my wife's car has leather, mines don't. I just don't think leather is worth the cost, it is colder to sit on during winter, horribly hot to sit on during summer, especially here in Florida. I have dogs as well, I agree it is harder to keep cloth clean compared to leather but I am always worried my dogs will rip right off the leather in my wife's car anyways. If I were to buy a new rogue, I would buy sv package with navigation package, I think that is the best deal.

I have Bose system in my car, I really do like it but given what you had in Altima, you would highly be disappointed by it and wish you didn't pay more to purchase that option.

Leasing gives a lower monthly payment. If I were to just buy the SV with Premium, it would be over $300 a month with the $6k out of pocket. Thats for 72 months and .9% rate. Would save around $5k in the end, but I would rather have lower monthly payments right now, and the option to go with the second generation Rogue if it offers enough to justify it.

My thought on the BOSE system is, in the winter I usually dont have my stereo turned up anyway, so it will be nice to have the room in the back while having at least something half decent. Also seems like it would be easier to wire a new sub in to the factory system if a stock one was already there. Wouldnt have to disconect any back speakers for a LOC.

Im fairly certain I would at least change the front speakers with my set of components off the 4-channel amp I have as well. I wish I knew the specs of the stock stuff, the components I have are good for over 100rms @ 4ohm, but do great with as little as ~40rms.
