well took my 2006 g35 coupe in for some warranty work monday. all minor things like a window motor. not able to fill the fuel tank to full. little things and told the service rep that, at times the motor sounds diff than normal but not all of the time.. so he say no prob will get it in and check it out. with in 30 mins he calls me back and gives me the good new and the bad news.. he asked when was the last time i had the oil changed i stated about a month ago. he starts with the good news.. new fuel sensor will be in tomorrow and that will be taken care of. the window motor is being replaced as we speak. and ya by the way we are going to have to replace your engine cause its blown, your using a quart of oil in months time. now the bad news is we cant get the new motor in till thursday... but its all covered under warranty... so we are going to give you a new g37 coupe mt6 to drive as a loaner till we can get it all fixed and you can make it back in town to get your car. which will be at least a week and a half ...... cause of my schedule.... so with only 26,000 miles on my baby that ive loved like a family member sometimes more. will get a new lease on life witha new engine... got to love warranties

Wow! I'm glad you're under warranty! The Infiniti powertrain warranty is really good.

Did you notice that you were consuming oil?

Congrats! You are gonna love the new engine, if it is a revised engine--lots of torque. I had a new engine put in my car at 12,000 miles---no problems since then.

What was the cause of the engine failure?

Getting a new long block is a decent win. Make sure your easy on when you get it back. Seems like a benefit of slow times at the dealer. The long block replacement is pretty easy in and of itself and all the fluids get replaced with OE (the only thing warranty will cover).

There is a flaw in one of the engine components of a certain range of 6 speed Gs that causes them to consume excessive oil. There are some that have no issue and there are some that don't make it to there third oil change.
