My skyline clip didn't come with a boost solenoid so I ordered a manual boost controller and a garret boost gauge. My question is, with out the stock boost solenoid will the car run different? From what I understand the ECU controls the solenoid so that below 4500 rpm the boost is regulated to 5psi, and anything after 4500 is 7psi.

I turned on the engine for the first time a few weeks ago and the turbo spooled really fast. I think I also heard some detonation I hope I didn't mess anything up.

You've got other issues if you're detonating with only 7psi. With the stock ecu you should be good until about 13/14 psi or so, then it may or may not start flipping out. I've ran 10psi with a t3/t4 50 trim with the stock ecu and it was fine.

I think I'm going way over 10 psi because I didn't have anything connected to the waste gate like no vacuums or anything. I don't have the boost solenoid either so there is no way for the ecu to keep the boost to 5-7psi. Today I will be installing the boost controller and boost gauge.

Feel free ! I don't always do everything right, I'm only human. But I'm learning and moving forward. You can't learn with out making mistakes. This is the first turbo car I've ever worked on. I didn't know how a waste gate worked or really much about how a turbo worked. I haven't tried to turn the car on since I heard the detonation, because I did some research on detonation. My research on detonation then led me to find that I was over boosting. Then I found out why it was over boosting and now that I know that all I need to know is; if not having a boost solenoid would affect the performance of the ecu because with a manual boost controller and no solenoid the ecu will not be able to adjust the boost.

so I put the controller in ! the engine stuttered and turned off. I took the controller off same thing happened now I'm lost. It seems as if there is no spark or very little. I'm gonna try changing the plugs. I looked at the fuel lines they are on the right way. I'm afraid to keep cranking every time I make any changes because last time I did that my KA got so flooded it ruined everything.

I'm not sure what could be wrong all the vacuums are in. I might have to test the CAS that was the problem with my KA . I need to check the coils if its none of those then I'll be completely puzzled
