Hello All. I recently picked up a 2002 QX4 and have replaced much of the front and rear suspension but I'm still getting a clunk sound when I hit bumps. Definitely coming from the front. I've replaced the struts, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, control arms and ball joints. I don't feel the clunk in the wheel but I hear it. My next step is the tie rod ends but I cant see them making that kinda noise and not feel it in the wheel. Anyone have any idea where I should look next? It's driving me crazy.

Did you change the strut mounts and bearings along with the struts?

Is your QX4 4WD? If so, grease the front driveshaft (might as well grease the rear driveshaft while you're under there). Other members have reported noises, vibration, etc if the slip yoke is dry.

Yes it's 4wd. I will give that a shot Sunday. My fear is a bad strut. I'll keep you posted. Thanks TownCivilian.

I recently had that same clunking noise, I had to tighten the upper nut that holds the strut, normally its a nylon nut just make sure its tightened

Well so far I've greased the shafts, as mentioned by TownCivilian, and I've checked all of the nuts and bolts. Tomorrow my replacement strut and mount come so hopefully it will be resolved after those 2 parts go in, again. Otherwise I'm at a total loss. Fingers crossed.

Long time ago I had the same clunk when going over bumpstops... it ended up being the inner tie-rods... there was not play I could detect by hand, but once changed, the clunk went away totally... It is something that happened to a few of us who had 2001-2004 pathfinders...

Well the mystery has been solved. I'm not sure if it was the strut or the mount but together they have eliminated my clunk. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. Hope I can return the favor someday.
