replace the ka24de with a sr20det

but in all seriousness if its not broke, why fix it.normal preventative maintenence, air/oil/fuel/transmission filters, pcv valve, belt replacements, fuel system cleaning can't hurt, transmission fluid change, coolant fluid change, differential fluid changejust my opinion on cars in general, other here might have more tricks related specifically to these cars.good luck!

The KA is incredibly durable if maintained well.

You've found a great resource, this place will save you TONS of money and hassle in keeping your 240 in great shape!

The ka should be fine for a while with good upkeep. Before i put my SR in my last car I tried to blow-up my KA,but it wouldn't.

I typed out this really long list of everything and then I hit click and I got that "page cannot be displayed" message, and since I used the little quick reply window there was no going back.. so I gave up and went to bed.but pretty much yeah, check your timing, plugs, dist cap and wires, belts, all hoses, flush all fluids (including brake fluid and coolant), the cat, change out the tie rods and tension rod bushings, check the ball joints and brake pads, etc...

first off ka uses a chain, not a belt, if they say they replaced all belts they are probably talking about the accessory belts. Its very uncommon to change the timing chain. As for the hoses I highly doubt they replaced all hoses... that would require pulling the motor. They have have replaced some.... makes me skeptical and I wonder how many they really replaced. find out specifics if you can.

also how much clearance, it depends. If yours has a front lip spoiler an aftermarket bumper probably won't be much lower. Lowering the 240, though, causes lots of problems with getting in and out of steep driveways. You'll scrape the nose and the tailpipe if you go much lower than an inch...

i figured it would sit low, my current car is lowered about 1.3 and it scrapes with the r33 kit on it...i guess i'llbuy bigger wheels to cover that wheel gap. and i'll check up on the belts and stuff they said they replaced. the dealer where it came from said it spent about a grand on replacing parts but i'll try to get list of what they replaced. thanks again
