i have a 1990 nissan atessa (ca18det)4wd

when i got the car it had heaps of go and wud sortof cut out had the effect of a jolt ever now and again

now it has stuff all go like there is no boost but my gauge shows 12 psiand it jolts like the boost is cutting in or sumthing

the opposite from when i got it

it idles at 250 when it cold and 500 when its warm tryin to sort that out at the moment with some info from this site.

thought it might be a boost sensor or something and the ecu isnt putting the extra fuel in

ive put in a new crank and t/belt bout 2 month ago, am about to check the timing as my turbo glows bright red afta driving normal for 20 min hopefully that will sort it. but im not sure

put another tps sensor on but didnt realy help much.and AFM, anyone know what it could be?

ive got another car the same just not sure what to swith over.

any number of things. too much or too little fuel, caused by leaky intake piping or bad sensors (pretty much any, water/maf/cas/etc) or wiring, or fuel pressure wrong, timing off, spark plugs gone bad, bad ignitor or coilpacks, etc...

My guess would be a fuel pressure regulator that was going out slowly and has finally taken a dump.

Yea, i'd check your cam timing. sounds like it jumped a tooth or something.

How does it idle? Have you checked your fuel pressure? Maybe the FPR or fuel pump took a dump.

this isint safe but its how i did mine:find an old, preferrably good spark plug wire, (use an old KA) rip off the rubber BS on both ends, straigten out a connection on the wire (the end that would plug into dizzy) and shove into coil hole, then take other end and attach to spark plug like on a coil less car.your gonna hafta do cyl #1 and run timing light from said wire, all should work ok, at least its what i did, take this advicwe at own risk( i tend to ghetto rig stuff, still cant shake that habit)
