This is pretty easy, but I'm not so good with the interiors. How do I get at the speakers in the door? This seems pretty easy, but so far I'm having a hard time.

It's not hard at all, you justr gotta take the door panels off. DO do that check your chiltons or haynes. Very basic, take 5 mins. there are 3 screws on the driver side, one up on the top righthand side of the door, one behind the lever that opens the door, and one in the little hole in the door that is connected to your power locks. The rest just pops off with a flathead. The only difference with the passenger side is the handle bar that isn't on the driver side has a screw up top. Easier than i described, take 10 mins tops.

Yup...then just remove the housing around the speaker or just the speaker itself. Presto...get rid of those paper cutter speakers!

take a look at the http://www.240sx.org faq section, there's a thing in there about taking the door panels off. if you've got manual windows like me, you get to enjoy taking off the window crank.

to take off the window crank use a coathanger and pull the little clip off from the top. Your gotta take a couple tries at it, it's crazy hard. You might want to buy some more clips, cause when it goes flying out lord knows where it's going to land. I keep a box of them for this specific purpose.

Since were on the subject of door speakers, how did you guys fare with yours? I had to heavily modify the metal surroundings on my boston 4X6 speakers and I really hated it. Is there a speaker that fits in S13 doors without any modification? Someone help me.

Yeah, my pioneer 4x6s fit with a bit of modificatino, nothing more than drilling some pilot holes for new screw mounts and using the mounting plate. Gotta torque them in there though or they'll come loose and rattle like a sonofa*****

That must have been a ***** to fit 6x9's in there.... did you have to get a separate adapter? Cuz I know to fit my Rockford 4x6's I had to cut part of the outside mounting metal. As for pulling off the door panels... lol I pulled off the window crank and the thing went flying... took my friend and I 10 minutes to find the bast*rd :)

...And that 6x9 didn't hit the window track? What about hitting the door panel, was it a 3 way 6x9 or just a co-axial? I guess you could mount it on the outside of the panel with a new 6x9 grill, but then it might hit the dash when you close the door.

Hmm..I guess we're talking S13 door speakers...I've got an S14 with 6.5s all the way around with stock a-pillar tweets. I've got a lanzar component set up front with nothing in the rear. I had to rewire the components from the stock setup because they ran the highs and mids on the same wire. As for fitment, took very minor modification.

6x9's can fit if you remove that plastic thing that usually holds the 4x6's. This is of course, in an S13. You need to make sure you're 6x9s are somewhat shallow to clear the window hardware, etc, and you'll have to drill mounting points for them. I think 6.5s would be ideal for front, 6x9s for the rear, a set of tweeters in the door panel, one good 12 and it should sound excellent.
