How can I get rid of the MAFS? I know a lot of cars with big turbo got rid of it. I also read it somewhere too but can't remember. What is the point or advantage of getting rid of it? Anyone?

Apexi' Power FC D-Jetro. will allow you to replace the MAFS with a MAP sensor. so will the greddy VPC. also most nonapplication specific standalones. such as haltech, and others. one advantage to not having one is a cleaner engine bay. on some cars the MAFS is a restriction.not really the case with an Sr20 though,as you can step up to the larger Z32 MAFS.

Why do you want to get rid of the MAF? Provide a valid reason because without a reason such as "I want a standalone for greater tuning abilities" then I just dont get it. A hotwire MAF is very accurate, is a negligible restriction, and helps your engine management cope with different situations. I'd rather keep mine than go to a MAP sensor...

It is because of the restriction, believe it or not the maf is one of the most restrictive parts in the intake even the big 3 inch ones those screenes on them provide alot of restriction.

Here is an article all about intake restrictions the maf is very similar to a maxima/300zx maf.

The turbo looks so nice without the mafs though. I saw this guy with a T67 and that intake side of the turbo is so nice and wide. Of couse, it was on the race track so he just had the turbo wide open without any piping. But it does make sense that your engine cannot make the power as it should wihtout the mafs since every air comming into the engine is bypassed through the mafs...but anyways, descreening the mafs, is it efficient?

MAFs arent all they are cracked up to be, when you get into HIGH horsepower they cant compensate fast enough and react as well as a MAP. But unless you are going for crazy numbers a MAF will suit you fine.

any standalone fuel management (i like Apexi Power FC and AEM) or any map sensor FMU like HKS VPC (Vein Pressure Controller)
