I have now been waiting 18 weeks for my Onyx Blue SL. I was originally told less than 8 weeks, then end of January, then March 1st. Then two weeks ago I was told it would be in last Friday. Now it is a week later and I still don't have it.

Seeing I am not the only one, I was curious if any of those who have received their Versa, if you negotiated something for the wait. Discount, oil changes, add-ons, etc.

Just curious, and to see if I am out of line asking for something. I am thinking of a better trade-in value for my current car.

I don't know about you, but my sales agreement had a time limit for delivery (8-10 weeks). If you have a similar clause, and they aren't meeting that committment, then you have no obligation to go through with the deal.

When the car finally does get here, and you go to inspect it before taking delivery, I would mention that. Then suggest that if they still want to make the sale, they should throw in some floor mats, oil changes, extended warranty, or whatever.

I don't think you're out of place for wanting something beyond the original sales contract when they haven't lived up to the agreement, and you're still willing to purchase the car. If they don't, threaten to go buy one off the lot from another dealer in your town.

Ask for more than what you want. That way they "negotiate" you down to the extras you feel you deserve.

I never did any sales agreement, at least in writing. I made my down payment, received a reciept for that, and they ordered the car for me. It was only a verbal agreement, as well as the "less than 8 weeks."

My other frustration is that everytime I stop in or call, it is longer than the time before. And now, being March 1, the latest date tehy told me, is here and there is still no car. Also, I don't think I should have to talk to them every two weeks. They should call me and give me updates!

What I really would like to get is to up the offer on my car so I don't have to try and sell it myself. I don't think they will to the amount I want, but I will start at that.

Thanks!

My dealer gave me a free $500 tint job, and a nose mask. I never had to wait for my car though, I walked in and drove off that night.

Most dealers will not do sales agreements unless it is a demand by the purchaser. Most don't want to be bound by any deadlines or have to pay if the Canadian rail workers go on strike again. Normally they will take a deposit and you'll just sign a receipt. My dealer didn't even want a deposit from me. I just signed my quote with the agreed price. Other members have been successful with extra dealer installed option or services. The best thing you could probably get is x amount of post warranty work free. That could come in handy.

There is NO car on this earth I would ever wait that long for. Mine was on the lot ready to go or I would have been to the Honda, Toyota or Subaru dearlerships.

I would have thought the same thing tama, but originally it was planned just right. they told me 6-8 weeks, which gave me plenty of time to get some more $$$ paid on my current car, then get the exact car I wanted, not whatever was available one the lot. But, 6-8 became 12 weeks, then 16, now 18. It is the car I want. I don't like the Fit's, the Yaris are too small, and to get a car with what I am getting in the Versa costs $2000 or more. I have looked at dealers as far as 200 miles to find my car, but no one in this area has SL's. I have no option but to wait.

Has your dealer given you the current status of your car?

Lately, I have been stopping in every couple of weeks. This Saturday will be my next visit.

Two weeks ago the told me it would be in last Friday. Before that visit, it was supposed to be March 1. Both of those dates, obviously, have passed. Each time he has pulled some report that has the delivery date.

I am actually going to visit a different dealer today and ask them when they can get the exact car that I want. i am going to tell them if they can get it before the one I have ordered, I will get it through them. Then I will tell my dealer that date. Maybe it will put a fire under someone's arse.

I thought I would pass this along to all of you waiting for your ordered Versa's:

Was looking at the dealer's inventories through Nissanusa.com. I happend to see a dealer 180 miles from me has the exact car I ordered, down to options, color interior and out. That made me a little mad that they sent a car that is ordered to a lot to sell. So I called the dealer and guess what, they have 2 of them, exactly alike!

So, I called my dealer and asked when mine was going to be in. He said, "I have been invoiced for it, that means it will be here within a couple of days." I interupted him telling him of my frustration that I am never given a solid date, just "around." I then told him about the Versa's at the other dealer and that I was tempted to take my deposit back and go down to buy them from the dealer in Utah. I then told him that I would like to have the invoice number and I wanted to talk to Nissan Corp. to tell them my frustration. He then told me he would talk to the Regional manager and would get back to me.

I will believe it when I hear it. Will let you all know how it goes!

If you want the correct date or ETA, demand the report from NNANet. There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to give you a copy of the report. The report will have all the information that you want. Tell them you have another deal lined up and this is their last chance. Watch the magic work. If you have to, walk. It'd be better to not do business with them.
