I was at my mechanic this week getting my state/emission inspection. I was talking about cars and my future plans for the 240 (sr20det redtop swap into an s14). But then wanted to test him to see if he would inspect it. I said but all this work would suck if I couldent inspect it. He said there is an easy route around this problem. He says as long as you drive under 5k miles a year, they do not have to run any emission tests or even open the hood, just slap on the stickers. He said "this is totally off the record", but just unhook the odometer and plug it back in before you get it inspected. He said this is the easyist and most "cost effective" way of getting it done, and that he would do it there.

I live in PA, so I do not know if other states have laws like that. He is a car nut himself, and was showing me a IS300 that they made fullrace. Anyways let me know wha tyou guys think or if this has already been brought up sorry!

Not to mention that what you are talking about is odometer fraud and is punishable with jail time.

Dont you think someone might notice if 50 240s in PA start getting mileage exemptions. You are a moron. Keep this kind of thing quiet unles you want these kind of useful loopholes to be removed.

People, if these cars are daily drivers, do what you can to keep emissions low (high flow cat). I live in LA, and smog sucks. It's not gonna stop me from doing everything to my car that I want, but I'll at least do my best to keep the emmisions low while I can. Not having a cat isn't gonna seriously increase power on a friggin stock engine anyway.

I live in Cali as well, I don't even think about anything being "legal". I wanna run fast, I have to take the risk and be smart about it, nuff said. I do agree Gabossie, we "try" and keep emission slow, thats why I have not removed my cat.

I agree with odometer laws.

It'd piss me the hell off to find out a mint Hemi Cuda I bought had about 500k on it instead of 50k...

Well thanks for calling me a moron, it's a pleaure to be reminded the a$$holes who don't even know you will put a label on you with only a simple impression (like me calling you an A##hole, Guilty as charged). Only in america...... Yeah I know odemeter freud is illegal, but then agian so is having a sr20det. If I did take the odemeter off, I would like to install some sort of hidden secondary device so I could know what type of mileage the car had.

As to the person noting about hecing a hemi cuda with 50k. I am not planning on selling my 240 so this would not effect other people.
