A customer is suing a Chevrolet dealership after it mistakenly sold him a car for $5,600 less than it should have--and then had him arrested for theft.

I cannot believe they told the police he stole the car

Making a false report of a stolen car is a crime all by itself, I'm surprised someone from the dealership isn't going to jail for that...

Stealerships make towns lots of tax revenue...but I completely agree someone should get arrested for making a false report

I agree with you guys that I can't believe the dealership did this, but come on. He's trying to sue them for 2.2 million in damages! WTF! Yeah I'd be pissed that this happened, but just take the car at the adjusted price, make them pay you back for any job time loss, and maybe even a little in personal damages (no more than $20k). At this point he's just being plain ridiculous.

And this is why it is so important to make sure every member of your business has their head screwed on straight. The actions of this mid level manager could bring this business down. I would never deal with them after reading this no matter what restitution the owner provided and I am confident i am in the majority. I always tell my staff "be careful what you say because whatever promise you make to a customer I have to keep."

His lawyer is trying to account for any and all possible future money loss from having this type of arrest on his record. I can tell you from experience that many jobs will not hire if you have a record, and some will even fire you from having even one arrest (even if you weren't at fault). Something as big as a car theft charge will definitely raise some eyebrows when the background check comes in...

That pencil sh*t nearly cost a salesman his life when my dad was involved back in the 80s. True story.

I'm surprised they didn't put him in lock up.

Yeah now that you mention it, I seem to remember my dad getting away with a lot of s*** in the 80s as well.
I recall him beating the s*** out of someone so badly, he dislocated his own shoulder and put the guy in a body cast for a few weeks. I recall shifting his Z for him cos his arm was all messed up hahaha.

I can't remember why he did it, but I do remember it was justified. The guy either tried to steal his car, or kidnap one of us or rape my mom or something.
