German car manufacturing

I thought that this was a very interesting article about the german car industry that some of you might like to read.

That is interesting. Definetly a different image than you get when you think of, say, a ford factory. I know at least I imagine a sweaty line of dudes with yellow hard hats on, working machines with sparks flying everywhere. These german factories look like they're run by little dudes in lab coats armed with protractors and dial calipers.

Maybe that's just the difference between the visions of the rich and those of the... less rich, I donno. Where would you rather have your car built?

That is the way I always thought too. You did notice thought that the german cars except BMW had the parts and frame and everything done elsewhere and then just assembled at the fancy places with hardwood floors. I think that if they take that good of care and that much pride in their assembly facility that they would more than likely take the same car and pride in their products. At least I would hope that they would.

Indeed quite interesting. Just shows how eccentric those crazy germans can be. I never saw a nissan plant that looked like that. Least not the one down the road.

anybody ever seen the Benelli Shotgun factory? good god they have machines that just stack stuff...
