Hey guys. Hoping someone else has had this problem...

I bought a genie keypad for my garage door opener. I had no problems programming it, but what's odd is after doing so, it kicked my car off so that it won't work with the garage door. When I add my car back on, it then kicks off the keypad. My wife's BMW isn't affected by any of this, nor are the openers that came with the unit. Anyone know how to fix this so the keypad and my car will both work?

”Anyone” = users on this site who own Infinitis and experienced a similar issue; “It” = Genie’s garage door openers and remotes. I’ve been on their site and saw nothing specific to this issue. Was hoping “anyone” with an Infiniti that may have had this problem knew of a solution.

Yeah there are some nuances with our cars and these garage systems. I’m considering clearing all the codes from the opener and adding the cars and wireless remotes one by one to see if that fixes it. I’m wondering if there is a limit of devices that can be connected and if I may have exceeded it.

mac, you know , that step by step approach your talking - looking for the "bad link" in the chain works for a lot of troublesome situations , and clearing - also after you've done a "clear" - disconnecting batteries & unplugging power sometimes gives an even FULLER & complete reset :gapteeth:

I think that will be the next step is to reset everything and start from scratch. Is this new Genie keypad replacing an old one?

No, not replacing. There hasn't ever been one programmed to the garage.

Big_Tone,

what I think you need to do is ditch the conventional keypad and buy a web-based opener/monitoring device.
I just bought a Nexx Garage device on sale: http://nexxgarage.com/

The thing is pretty cool, basically an electromagnetic switch on the garage door that sends a signal to a wifi enabled base that is hooked up to your garage unit.

You download the app to your smart device (iOS or Android) - you can open/close the garage door via your phone app, you know when your door is open or closed, you can enable other folks to have access to open your garage door, you can have reminders for when the door is open/closed, know when and who opened the door, and it can even automatically open the door when it senses your phone with the app installed when it comes to within 50-100 feet of the unit. (I thought have having the Homelink buttons on the mirror in our cars was cool, until the button graphics started to wear off on my M45, I vowed I was not going to let that happen again, so I bought a smaller, garage door remote to use instead) Now, I can just use my iPhone 6s plus. Hopefully the company may design functionality to have the door automatically close when it senses your phone moving away from the central unit...their website states that new functions are to come :bigthumb:

Thanks for this! I like it as an option to replace the built-in opener in the car, but I still need the keypad for my kids.
