2013 Rogue SV with 17" stock wheels, no mods, 41K, going to need brakes, tires, alignment soon. Front rotors are shot. I get significant shimmy in the steering wheel with soft "in-between" braking as I glide to a stop going down a highway off-ramp. Not sure if I should replace rear rotors on first brake job or have them resurfaced and stretch them out. I'm planning on doing front rotors and pads at the same time I do rear pads.

I've been doing a higher percentage of city driving lately, so I'd say I'm around 40% highway, 60% city right now. About 25% of my driving is what I'd consider aggressive, 75% gentle. Current MPG is around 23-24 overall. Average speed, according to the dash board, is 21-25 MPH.

I'm not skilled or experienced enough to do the job myself, but I have a local mechanic I trust who I've been using for 20 years. He's more than happy to install parts that I bring. I pay for labor only.

So, based on my driving style and needs, what pads/rotors would the experts recommend? I'm not necessarily looking for the highest quality, absolute best top of the line aftermarket parts, but I don't want cheap garbage either. I'm looking for something that will be functional, durable, and a good deal for the money.

Should I replace all the rotors at the same time or reuse the rear rotors?

TIA

I like StopTech brake pads and it seems they have them for the Rogue as well. Tires, that's really a personal decision. Consider that they are the number one connection of your car to the pavement. I don't know how worn your stuff is. Some rotors are beyond turning and some tires are beyond balancing/ rotating. If you let them go too long, you may need new hardware for the calipers as well. An alignment, tires and brakes should tighten everything up for you really nice. I would add the rotors, normal ones, not slotted or drilled. Your guy will be in there already for the pads and tires, so no real change in labor to swap rotors I'd think. Turning rotors might be half the cost and then you have thinner rotors which seems like they would be more prone to warping.

I finally got new tires and went with Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring. I've driven about 900 miles on them and they're fantastic. They're V-rated, because Cooper doesn't make an H-rated tire in this size - only T or V.

I also ordered front and rear brake pads and rotors, but I haven't had them installed yet. I went with semi-metallic. Not crazy expensive, but not the cheapest crap either. The rotors are EBC premium flat (not slotted or drilled or anything fancy) rotors and I got the "Green stuff 6000" pads, which are considered "performance," but not crazy aggressive high-end expensive performance brake pads. They're better than the "Ultimax Daily Driver" pads, but cheaper than "Yellow stuff," which are the most aggressive.

Question about the fluid. I'm planning on having my mechanic flush the lines and replace all the brake fluid when he installs the new pads and rotors. But the 2013 owner's manual and all online sources don't seem to list the total capacity for the brake fluid system. I got two bottles of EBC DOT-4 fluid, but they're only 8.8 fl oz each, so total amount is just over half a quart. Is this going to be enough new replacement fluid, or am I going to need more? Thanks.

You have plenty of brake fluid to flush the lines.
