I have read the numerous posts; that there are many common issues with the J30 Sunroof. I have luckily myself not experienced them as of yet. The only problem that I have experienced was with the felt fabric on the interior underside of the metal sunroof that kept falling down. I have tried numerous times to re-glue the felt fabric using automotive headliner glue to reattach the fabric to both the center piece section and the outside piece section of the sunroof to no avail, and it all still kept falling down. I then took all the felt fabric off the metal sunroof, cleaned the glue residue off and painted the metal surface on the interior underside of the sunroof an Ivory color to match the interior color of the car. But I did notice that it squeaked a little after I had painted the metal underside of the sunroof when I would pull it back (all the way opened). But I did oil the center section from the back side around the arms where the prop-up position is located and that annoying squeak went away completely.
I guess my main question is are there any general maintenance procedures or concerns that I need to be aware of or need to follow for continued good operation and no leaks for this sunroof; there is nothing at all listed about sunroof maintenance either in the Infiniti manuals or online for the J30? What I need know is do I need to oil anything regularly or grease the tracks or maybe even somehow dress the seals as part of normal maintenance of the sunroof. Please send any detailed instructions, intervals and or pictures as well as what products should or should not be used on this sunroof and the tools that may possibly be needed for this task.
Thanks,
