Ummmm........just wanna find some stuff out.... I hear the CA18det revs higher than an Sr20det..... well how much?

umm... where abouts is the CA glass ceiling so to speak on a $10,000 budget?

Iron block?........ what is the sr aluminum?

I know the SR has piston cooling oil squirter thinggy's.... CA?

I'm basically just worried about aftermarket support.... how does that all shape up?

Thanks

A CA with forged/cryo'd pistons will rev to 9,000 safely.

You could easily have 500 (safe, relatively easy, reliable )horsepower for $10,000 dolllars.

Yes, Iron block.

Yes, the CA has them as well.

Aftermarket is fine, your choice of companies is only limited by who imports parts. There are just as many CA parts as SR, its just not as many places carry them. I will have a full line of CA parts when my shop opens, as well as SR and probably some RB as well.

Anything Else? : )

<--Hijacks thread. Hey Daunttless? With the aformentioned $10K, what would need to be done to get a CA to 500hp? I know BIG turbo, injectors, fuel pump, probably a stand alone, but what about to the engine itself. Anything besides forged pistons? <--see I've been reading. The SR needs re-sleeving right? Does it need anything else? rods? pistons? Could one get over 400hp on either engine on the cheap, so to speak.

All prices are approximations and in no particular order.

$1900 CA18DET$0900 FMIC$0129 Fuel Pump$0500 Injectors$1300 Haltech$0750 Forged Pistons$0200 Head Gasket$0100 Intake$0500 Exhaust ~ Optional ( you may already have it )$0250 Testpipe (downpipe/midpipe)$1500 Turbo/Manifold$0500 Electronic Boost Control$0500 Gauges$0600 Flywheel/Clutch$0800 Camgears/Camshafts ~ Optional$0500 Nitrous ~ Optional-$0350 KA24DE-$0100 CA18 Harness-$0050 CA18 ECU-$0100 CA18 Injectors-$0100 CA18 Turbo/Manifold-$0100 CA18 SMIC

what size turbo is going to produce 500hp in a 1.8?

Does anyone have dyno's for **** like that?

umm...... how much heavier than the SR is the CA?

I was planning on going with a TODA 2.2 liter kit for the SR, are big name players like TODA involved in the CA aftermarket?

Names?..... websites?

umm...... also, it seems as though the CA is an older design engine....? Am I wrong?

Keep Posting.

I didin't know TODA made a 2.2 litre stroke kit, I thought that was only JUN.

go to http://www.takakaira.com

Basically anyone who's involved in SRs is involved in CAs and RBs.

There are lots of turbos and it depends on your specific application, a GT2530 will put 320 to the ground as a reference point. : ) You can go much, much larger than a GT2530, just depends on how big you want to get.

Isn't reliabilty going to become an issue with a stroker kit? And what about boost? What would be the advantages of a boosted, stoker kit-equiped motor? I'm only familiar with Honda kits, and their usually only used in all motor n/a applications.

Well, the stroker kit makes it a 2.2 litre SR, and most people don't just put in a stroker kit. To get the whole package its about 15 thousand dollars, and that comes with upgraded EVERYTHING, the whole motor is worked into race form. I personally wouldn't just put a stroker kit in, but to each his own. : ) The advantage is an increase in displacement, and if you get the whole setup you can run the redline a lot higher.

yeah, i caught on to the hubcap-intake/exaust-moms car thing a lottle slow.

Toda's stroker kit includes fully balanced pistons within .25 grams of eachother. Rods, rings, wrist pins, and crank are also included.

umm.... rb's huh............. I wish I lived in a communist country where I had no choice of what to stick in my car.

Hehe, I don't take offense don't worry. I can't think of any place offhand, but a search for RB20DET should yield you results. : )
