Hey guys, Ive been searching but only coming up with topics dealing with specifics related to pricing or how- to threads but what I want to know is the following. I am currently being offered a bone stock s14 zenki very clean auto for 2800. The dealer is a nissan 240 only dealer in miami and is offering me this car with a motor that doesn't start( assuming needs a new fuel pump) but is auto. He is offering to completely do a manual transmission and sell it for the same price. My question is if the conversion is done, are there any common general problems that arise or is the only thing that needs to be done is play with the ecu a bit? I plan on installing a blacktop sr later on and hopefully there will be no problems but for now I would like to keep it stock. Are problems only related to poor installation or is there any specific thing that needs to be done in order to get precise shifting ?Any info would help.

There is a laundry list of items that are a good idea to replace when swapping to 5-speed: trans seals, pilot bushing, clutch, clutch throw-out bearing, clutch pedal (obivously) are just a few, in addition to making sure the gearset shifts properly. You definitely need to get a list of what exactly will be performed, by the dealer, when swapped. An automatic ECU will work with the swap, but otherwise a M/T ECU would be required to ensure no CELs. Hope this helps.

No problem. Like I said though, get a detailed list from the dealer and post it here so others can review.
