Hello,
I am having a query about air bags provided in cars. I have heard that the air bags which are meant for safety purpose are not totally safe for children. Is it so?

It's true. Airbags were designed for passengers above a certain weight/height limit. the force of the front airbags when they deploy can be very dangerous for small children/infants even if they wear seatbelts. I don't recall the exact weights/height minimums, but I'm sure it's published online. The unscientific rule of thumb is about 12 yrs old as a minimum age for a child to ride in the front passenger seat of an airbag equipped vehicle. Of course there are exceptions. I know many folks ignore that rule of thumb, but if your child is in a car seat or booster seat, and your car is equipped with airbags, the back seat is by far the safest place for them to sit (with seatbelts on). And if you have a 2 seat car, you'll notice most have a switch for de-activating the passenger front air bag when carrying small children. Hope that helps.
