OK I have decided I am going to convert my car to manual since the engine I bought already has the manual transmission on it. I have been reading lists of what I will need on the boards and other places and I read 4 articles on the web about how manual transmissions and clutches work. Don't flame me for not being technical about this but I have never driven manual before. First of all I want to make sure I have how the clutch pedal works to operate the clutch down. Fluid in the master cylinder is forced through a single line, when the clutch pedal is depressed, into the slave cyl which causes the rod to come out of the slave cyl and push the tab on the trans, correct?
Second of all, since the transmission is already on the engine, I just have to hook up the shifter, get the manual driveshaft, install the clutch master and slave cylinders and the clutch line, correct? I already have the stock shifter and the rubber(ribbed looking) boot.
Next what is the clutch release bearing and where is it located?I saw aftermarket one on nopi was wondering what it is.
Last of all, what clutches are people using and with what kind of power? I ran a search for just the word clutch and only got 2 results, neither of which helped. Like I said I am new to manuals, so any help is appreciated.
