what up. I am new here If you cant tell. I have been reading the boards for about 3 months now. I have always wanted a sylvia (s13) since I went to japan a few yars back, and I finally found one for $2000 (90 240 with sylvia front stock engine). Pics are here http://www.rit.edu/~boo8953 (needs paint job badly.. please overlook). So now the questions. By the way I have done alot of searching and have not quite found answers to my questions.

1. I want 200 to 250 whp. Which is the most economical choice. rebuild/Turbo my sohc, or go with the sr swap (and up turbo later). I would like to keep my price range around 2k (gotta save up for japan trip #2), but it doesnt have to be that low. I just need the cheapest (reliable solution).. by the way my car has 130k mies on it and the engine supposidly has 90 k miles on it. I have not yet done a compression check (lack of equipment) But I will. I plan on doing everythign myself (or else its no fun and you dont learn anything).

2. I finally found a link that had a 90 fsm for the 240, and believe me it took about 3 hours of solid searching and sifting through dead links. My question is is this as good as the actual Nissan produced fsm? and if it is lacking can someone post a link to where I can download the actual fsm. I will happily post it up and keep it up for others.

3. The catback exhaust for this thing is way to loud to get some night practice in a safe area (just verry loud an obnoxious in general). I would be better off calling the polce on my cell and tell them right out what I am doing. It is some nasty rig that the person before me did. I think the pipe to the muffler is 2.5", and the muffler itself is about that size if not 3". Aside from junkyard/auto store. Does anyone know where I can find a cheap (used) stock muffler. I am even willing to trade with the one i have now. I just want to get rid of it, because it is not sleeper friendly, and sleepers are the way to go.

4. (i did not search for this one forgive me) I am 6ft 3" tall. And as you have guessed I have a tough time fitting into the car. I would like to add an extra inch or 2 of legroom. Does anyone have a relatively easy solution to that? by the way I plan on taking out the back seat.

5. I live in Rochester NY. Is there anyone around the area willing to give me a hand working on the engine/car. Well actually i need more of a place to do it as supposed to hands to help. I expecially really need a place to keep it during winter so i can work on it. I am willing to pay rent too. But remember I am in my 5th year of college ( yes it is meant to be 5 years), so money will be tight.

Sorry for such a long post. I know I should have split it up into separate posts. But i do not have the time to at the moment.

thanks peace

1) There is no way your going to spend less than 2k on a rebuild and turboing it if you want 200rwhp. Some people can do it but it takes a lot of time and knowledge of cars to do this. Also a front clip for an SR S13 runs from $2600-$3000 so that is not an option. Stop dreaming because that is not possible, car's = expensive hobby. Unless you know someone who can really hook you up and I mean really good hook up but your not going to achieve that.

2)What kind of manual is it? Haynes? etc.?

3)Why don't you try calling junkyards or http://www.car-part.com or even if your going to turbo it buy a new exhaust i.e. BRM etc.

4)I've seen people your height fit fine but there is no solution for this.

5)Sorry can't help you there.

Good luck!

The manual is not haynes or chillitons. Its the one that is often talked about in posts like this:http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....D+240

I have already checked out all the local junk yards, but thanks for the site.

nuthin huh.... oh well. It was worth a try

btw has anyone had any experience with orderin engines from http://www.jdmsource.ca/

It seems the redtops/blacktops come with the most necessary parts for a swap. It also seems like they are missing a few essentials too
