well on the single piston sliding calipers...

i've notice that the outer pads wear out faster than the inner ones.

yet the FSM says that the inner pads should have the wear sensor & not the other way around; doesn't make sense...

I've lubricated the sliding pins every job w/ synthetic brake caliper grease & that seems to help slightly.

but i notice this on other manufacterers as well : dodge, suzuki, subaru, mitsubishi, mazda (family's cars)

can u techs verify this simple observation?

mebbe in the future jobs of replacing my pads on my 240sx, i'll probably try putting the pad w/ the wear-sensor on the outboard end & check for any obstructions.

i dont think the pad will go on right if you put it on like that, try it but im sure it doesnt work. and yes, they may because of the pins not sliding all the way back. when you do a brake job, try to push the pins in and out, they should glide freely like piano keys (maby a little stiffer then that but you get the idea), if they have alot of resistance that is why.

The inside pads and inside of rotors always wear faster and warp sooner on floating one sided calipers [single or dual piston] if they are working correctly. Not really significant ~~ 10-15% faster.

oops, my bad...

yea, sliding pins are ok; it's the piston on the pass side rear that's crappin' out on me

took a 2nd look @ the worn pads & the d/s ones are wearing out faster on the inner pad like u guys described. (it should since i replaced that caliper ~year ago...

now, time to replace the pass side rear caliper. thanx again guys!
