Ok guys, I know i could simply search to try to find this answer but i don't think the answer is alone is really what I'm looking for. I would really like to do something about the brakes on my s14, i guess my z32 has me spoiled but i live in WV and it's pretty hilly if you didnt know that already, but......Coming off the hillt hat one of my friend's lives on almost always renders my brakes enar useless byt he bottom of the hill even with some engine braking...Now i don't need the "big brake" upgrades and i dont really feel like spending a boat load of cash, what do you think would be the best bang for the buck for me in the situatrion I'm in. Would a set of rotars from a more modern nissan, say a 03' maxima or something fo that nature be enough or should i get maybe a z32 set....If there is any place any of you guys know of off hand with some prices on some fo the more stright forward upgrades please share the love

why not try putting a crossdrilled/slotted rotors. and if not satisfy, take the z32 calipers on ur other car and slap it on the 240 and do the conversion =)

actually the z is sporting r33 gt-r brakes, i've had it much longer then the s14 and sold the stockers to a 240 owner years ago ;(

Remember it doesnt go from stock to z32, with stock equipment you could try higher temp pads and slotted front rotors(they dont have to be from a newer nissan, they arent going to keep useing old technoligy to make parts just because the car is old) also keep in mind that q45 calipers work as well, although they are 2 piston floating vs 4 piston fixed like the z32, but they should get the job done better then 240 calipers. also when was the last time you flushed your brakes, it might be time for that again...

you've got a point but its more then liekly time to replace alot of the brake system, the car is a 95 with 153,000 miles...i was thinking about maybe 99 altima rotars, or the replacement brembo ones (only 50 bucks a pop on tirerack) and a set of maxima calipers...i think the 94's are a direct bolt on and a bit larger

edit: oh yeah and stainless lines, the older the stockers get the worse they hold up to pressure

brembo blanks, porterfield RS4 pads, stainless lines and some good brake fluid. get the brembo's from NOPI, they have the best prices for brembo. last time i looked, brembo blanks were $32 a peice for your S14. all of that, should make your 240 stop quite nice.

How do you usually drive when your going downhill? How long and steep is it? How fast do you end up going? I was just thinking that maybe you can switch to higher gears earlier than normal, thus slowing the acceleration of your car down without using brakes. I live on a hill and thats what I would do if I wanted to slow down.

I think my 240 brakes are good until i try stopping from 100 mph. They are good for stock and a nonturbo applications. I like the feel of Z32 brakes on my friends car. I might go Q45 or Z32. It depends what you want to do.

I say Q45 brakes... I believe Z32 brakes are aweomsome in performance but seems like you just need a bit more extra stopping power... Q45 is better than 240 brakes but not as expensive as the Z32.
