I was given a 3 month/3000 mile warranty on this car when I bought it, and have put on 1k thus far...

Driving kinda slow and smooth the transmission acts fine, but when I drive it kinda hard, the 1st to 2nd shift is HARD, like knock you back in your seat hard.

When it's cold it'll also do a bit of extra downshifting while going uphill and driving a bit hard.

Is this common with this transmission? My GF's '00 doesn't do this and she has the same mileage. Her shifts are all always smooth regardless of whether she has TC enabled or not.

I put a can of Lucas transmission Fix in and haven't seen any results yet.

Should I take my car to a transmission diagnostic joint? I really don't wanna score a wrecked transmission at 4 months or 3001 miles.

Definitely have it checked out. Sounds like it could be a fluid problem, or possibly a solenoid.

I can already tell you the problem. Your Transmission Control Module needs to be replaced. I just had to do this myself. It's simple to replace. Do a check on the internet though, trust me that this is your problem. I did the fluid replacement first, then did a search and found this problem. Good luck with it.

my car '00 Maxima GXE130k, Autotragic

the TCM costs about $500.

my 92 does that from 1st to 2nd sometimes too

i havent had the transmission looked at since i got it (just over 1 yr ago)it doesnt change too much in hills though just when i cant make its mind up i guess.

would that be a TCM too? coz $500 doesnt sound appealing...

Mine did the same thing. Fortunately it was still under warranty, so the dealer replaced the throttle body. It's worked great since then.

Is the car modded at all? I mean my auto shifts hard but its suppose to. I have a modded valve body . Find out what you can about the transmission.

Anyone have a pic of where the TCM/TCU is located? I think I found one to put in, and I'd like to install it along with my other upcoming mods.
