I've searched..and didn't find anything...if u guys know the link to the thread...give it to me please. I'm not familiar w/ the Nissan Transmissions..but i'm assumin they're kind of similar w/ t he hondas that i've rebuilt in the past. new transmission fluids, rebuild transmission? OR can i adjust somethin? Thanx in advance...

i would have to say rebuild the trans, but outa curiousity did you install a short shifter? try the stock shifter, if you did, i have a friend with a crx that put a ****ty short shifter in it and it would always pop out, put my stock integra shifter in it, and its been fine ever since.

make sure your C ring isn't missing. And do you mind telling us why you decided this needed to be in the SR20 forum?

Usually when the rwd transmission's start popping out of gear it is because the syncros are going. Check the shifter first of course.

These transmissions and shifters are nothing like a honda/acura shifter set up is and the reason why those short shifters create problems is going to be completely different.

BuudWeizErr: Cuz the SR forum is the most active and i figured the KA transmission and the SR have some similarities. I just bought the car 3 days ago from an old dude, it has a stock shifter. I dunno if it has the C-ring or not, but i will check sometime...but im jus tryin to get a general idea of what could cause the problem...thanx

It's time for a transmission rebuild! My friend's mustang did that, and I couldn't stop laughing when it did. It did it under mid-hard acceleration. He would have to always hold the shifter in gear while accelerating. :D Rebuilt the thing and been fine ever since. This sort of thing happens when people don't change the fluid in the transmission often and the syncro's and gears begin to wear badly. A transmission is like a motor, it needs fluid changes too.

Similar thing happened on my SR trans. 1st & Reverse are on the same Syncronizer Ring, So if one pops out, they both will. Only choice is to rebuild or replace. Why the hell do they make Transmission parts out of brass anyway?

Only thing you can do is hold on to that shifter indefinitely to hold it in gear :(
