The lever seals in the side of the gearbox can be replaced by P/No 801047 which is readily available to any one in Aus for $3 a pop from any bearing or power transmission place.

my gearbox is leaking oil little drops right on the bottom center of the gearbox where it joins the clutch and engine.

The seal has nothing to do with datsun. It's simply drop the vernier calipers across the shaft and the inside of the seal lip on the gear box and hey presto you have a seal that fits. The seal design is the same as the 120y crank seal, just a lot smaller, and seats on the outer lip. The original seals seat in further and have a felt spacer. I didn't try auto pro or any of those ather car stores as they are generally more of a pain than a help. When it comes to bearings and seals of any kind you cant go wrong with power transmission shops.

Matti, when I pulled my motor with transmission in tow, I had oil leaking from the propeller shaft of the transmission. I suspect rear seal is gone. I'd like your advice. Is there another seal that could cause the transmission to leak when pulled at an angle? The rear seal only appears to seal the drive shaft to the transmission, so I am suspecting there is another seal further up. ??? Ken

To tell you the truth I'm a little hazey on this myself. Every rear wheel drive car that I've pulled the box out of will do the exact same thing. The drive/propeller shaft creates part of the seal (like a crank shaft and seal) Hence when you remove it oil leaks out when the box is tilted rearwards. Perhaps brunop can tell you the exact deal. I personally wouldn't be worried about the seal unless oil is leaking from the rear of the box while in situe.

Thr rear gearbox seal on my ute is a press in plastic job.

P/no: sgl2 35 50 11 ae 192 px.

This is all the writting on the seal so the actual part number is probably only a portion of this. This is how it looks in place.
